My guess $499. I dont see how it could sell for less and it would not sell well for alot more. I might be willing to go a bit higher if it will live up to the hype and anything less would be great. I hope they let us know at E3.
Well GI and the U.S. playstation magazine had that sony said it costs over a 1,000 U.S. dollars to make the console. Sony, however, didn't give the exact amount. They just said its costs over a 1,000 dollars to make. I don't see it being 400, I see it 500 or more for the price. I'm just gonna wait till later when the price drops to get it. I'm more than happy with my 360 for now. I think sony is aiming their ps3 market to people 17 or above maybe, people that have a budget of their own and dont depend on their parents to give them lunch money or allowance to save on several months, working people 8)
I'd say $599.99. They'd only lose $300 per console.

I totally agree with this guy. With all the stuff put into the PS3, it's not just for kids and i think we all know this. It's being sold as an entertainment system not a childs console. IMO there are far more people out there making a living that will save towards and buy the PS3 if it goes up to the $1000 mark. They're only making 6 million units for a worldwide release, you really think there aren't 6 million people in the world willing to pay $1000 for this machine at launch? I don't think the system will go up to that price, but i think it'll be way over the price that you guys are suggesting, in which case you'll just have to shut up and wait for a price drop, the console will sell either way.
And for god sake, wait and see what the damn price is at E3, how stupid do people have to be to read a thread about the price then create their own replica of the same thing. Offense intended.

Where is your source? And what in god's name are you talking about? If you know the ps3 is packed with all new technology and 60GB HDD, then why do you say it will be only 400 dollars? And u say this generation of consoles is expected to be the most expensive? Uhh... I disagree. It will be even more expensive in the next next generation. And xbox 360 is really a nice system and you are only paying 400 dollars for it... U know how much pc graphic card costs that is equivalent to xbox 360 graphic card? MS loses 125 dollars per each console they sell... I expect at least 500 dollars on ps3.

Sony ain't gonna say a word about ps3 at E3. It's too obvious. No reason to announce price point 5 months before the release.

actually, it will be more like the $500 blu-ray drive that you would get for you PC. at any rate, you will be getting a deal if the PS3 stays under $900

Most casual gamers want a game machine. By that marker, $499 and above is too expensive. The vast majority of console buyers will care nothing for Blu-Ray.
