Hi all, I have spent endless hours trawling forum to help me to get my PS3 to display 1080p on my Sony Bravia KDL-37EX401 through the HDMI 1.3 cable. It will only display 576p!!!! Things I have tried:- 1. 5 second hold for power and 2 beep thing, then when selecting best output on startup the screen flickers to 1080p and 'out of range' flickers and then only eventually displays 576p 2. Tried settings on TV. TV cannot even detect a HDMI componenet attached?!?! 3. Tried the attaching through AV (scart) and HDMI at same time solution. Does not display anything through AV!!!!! 4. Updated firmware on both the TV and PS3 I'm almost in tears now!!! Please someone help! Lol Thanks, Anthony

Well, Anthony I've never heard of 576p resolution. But, it sounds like your HDMI cable is bad. You should borrow, or buy, another one and see if that solves your problems.

Hi Anthony. My system has done exactly the same thing. It has been fine for years, PS3 thru HDMi into an Onkyo receiver into a Sharp Aquos LCD. Did a PS3 update to 3.60 (i think) the other day, all seemed fine. Turned machine off, turned on again the next day and it is only showing 576p display. If I go onto the PS3 display setting (which are now showing at 576p) and set to auto, it then attemps to go to 1080 but then says 'out of range'. Did a complete reset on the Onkyo but made no diff. Changed HDMi leads, again no diff. Sky HD is still inked up to the Onkyo and that is fine, displaying @ 1080 thru HDMi. As it stands, the PS3 still now only displays at 576 and I do not have a clue what is up with it.

WAHEY!!! Just got it sorted. Try this, go into the PS3 setting, go to display settings, choose HDMi and manually set it up. Tick all boxes EXCEPT 1080p (leave 1080p unticked) and try that. Worked for me. I originally tried ticking 1080i and leaving 1080p blank but didn't work. Strangely, even my wallpaper disapeared?? God know what happened after that last update.
