Which PS3 is better, the 60 GIG or 80 GIG and WHY?

This has to be one of the worst threads made. Its like comparing an apple to a slightly bigger apple. 9mmSpliff
lol:P
The 60GB is stil better mainly because it has the Emotion Engine inside so it pretty much has near 100% compatibility with PS2 games (a must for me since my PS2 library is considerable and I still play them alot).
As for the harddrive it's only an extra 20GBs, besides if Iwantmore space I can always go and buy a large one from a computer store and just install it manually and voila, 120 or 160GB no problem! 8)

I like the 60 GIG too. It's doing fine HD space wise and I like the Emotion Engine.
Oh my god... 73% of you idiots voted for the 60gig.
He didn't mention anything about price... wow.I mean obviously the 80 gig is "better". Wow you guys. Way to go...

You shouldn't talk that way to Mr. Brain surgeon.:P
I dont think you realize how much 60 GIGs is.....its a ton. Most of you probably dont ever delete stuff you download. Delete demos you never play, videos you dont watch. Seriously 60 gigs is a ton for a game system. I voted 60 GIG because its tons of space and is $499 now. Also full backwards compatibility was a must for me when considering purchase. And you can always buy a rumble controller when they sell them seperately. cyrax453
I agree, you only lose 20 GIG HD space and you get the Emotion Engine amd $100 cheaper.
Well the 80 gig obviously because it has more gigs.......

Sorry you're mistaken.
In essence the 60gb model is superior PS3 hardware with a slightly smaller hard drive. The 80gb unit is going to cut some costs by going to software compatability (emulation) instead of hardware (hardware is always better)- then they're going to give you an extra 20gb of hard drive space to justify the $599 price tag. In reality SONY will make a profit on the 80gb units by removing the Emotion Chip and the Harware compatability for the PS1 and PS2 - this is a good businees move by SONY, but the consumers who get the 80gb unit will be getting inferior units to the 60gb models as they will be missing some of the hardware.
Didn't mean to get all long winded about it - here's the skinny and answer to your question...
Go buy the 60gb unit before they're gone.
:)
20GB difference is almost nothing, but the 80GB is still better because it comes with some essential things, games and an extra controller and it's cheaper than buying everything separate. If you want more memory than go to www.newegg.com and buy a 160GB notebook HDD for $95 dollars.wallpaper42Not necessarily. Like someone previously stated, you could find a used game or go on ebay, anywhere where a game isnt $60. And just have a friend bring over a controller unless you have siblings you CONSTANTLY play with.

I would think that most people don't have friends with PS3s... Only one of mine do and the rest have PS2s and Xboxes. Games aren't really that cheap on Ebay and used ones at myGamestop are $55...
