It's true.
Although PC browers such as IE and Firefox are faster than the PS3's browser. But if you put Linux on PS3, then you could have another browser which could go faster.
Can use it to pretty much do anything, I checked my email on it the other day...make sure you have a k/m, or else it'll feel like texting with an old cell phone, but any USB k/m or BT k/m works.
I prefer to use PS3 than my PC for youtube because I can watch it on the big screen TV. Well, the resolution sucks (through no fault of the PS3, of course), but I can watch it while eating on the dinner table.
its ok but it is slow and if you dont have a mouse its difficult to use the analog sticks to navigate.fuzzy_hippo
ive gotten use to it like my mouse broke but i used my ps3 controller and i find no problem with it i havent even bought me a new mouse for it yet and that happend september last year
Well its an Opera based system so yes it works good. but you really should ahve a KB and mouse or typing is gonna get old fast.budboarder

I have a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse combo on my PC which I rigged up to my PS3 for a while, but I had to unassociate it everytime I wanted to use my PC or it would control the system, lol. So I just said screw it, I'll walk an extra 10 ft and surf the internet on my PC, y'know?
I've got a keyboard/mouse and I'd still rather use a computer. I think Sony needs to work on the browser a little more:
1. It needs to run Java Applets 2. It needs a better system of oppening multiple windows (Eg. Tabs) 3. It always cuts of a bit of the websites you're on. 4. It needs to be faster 5. You should be able to scroll by clicking in the middle mouse button. 6. There should be a zoom button when using the keyboard/mouse 7. When using the keyboard/mouse, using the left and right keys should not automaticly find the next link.
I use my PS3's browser quite frequently. It's highly convenient to check e-mail, browse a few sites here & there without having to fire up the PC. Especially when I'm passing out after a long gaming night.

Yes,it does work, but on a scale from 1-10 I would have to give it a 7. You can also use a wired or wireless keboard with it.
I personally think it stinks as a browser. There seem to be many applications that the PS3 will not run.
All I really know is that I've been wanting to watch some episodes from abc.com and haven't been able to watch them. I also can't watch the UFC vids I've tried to. YouTube works fine, but that's about all it seems to be good for.

Agreed. There are actually quite a few sites I go to, (such as mmobaseball.org or brushbackbaseball.com), which aren't supported properly. It's kind of annoying especially since my laptop is in for repairs right now.
I like the web browser I can view more on it then I can on the Wii and I think the PS3 browser is faster I usually use it to watch TV on tvcatchup.com and it's great that the people on that website have got the TV web player to work with the PS3.
