PS3 will surpass?

...as the gap between ps3 and 360 comes closer I have something in mind. The gap is currently now: 5 million away, last year was: 8 million, next year maybe 2 million?, then maybe even close the 360, in order to not accept their defeat, the new XBOX 720 would be announced and rushed to be launched...only to cause some bad side effects *cough*. Then when it surpasses the 360, every 360 fanboy would be like, the only reason is outselling the 360 is because the 720 came out, no the only reason the 720 come out is for XBOX to hide the truth...anyone else feels that this is going to happen?

With the price cut coming soon, and a lot of good games, plus some great exclusives, the gap should be closing, XBOX is seing this and worrying, so they're going to quickly release their new console in order to give it an even more extra, extra head-start, thus causing....

...or we could not care and just play video games?

Because as long as Sony is making money to churn out games, we don't care about the other consoles, right?

I don't think we can ever surpass the Wii, no matter how hard we try, not even others can, they are in a world of casual gamers, and they have a different approach on things, and the way they think...they only care for the causal, the real battle in with the core, which are the PS3 and 360 is trying to take hold of, but really I just see this as: whoever sees a cheap console, they'll buy it, over the next one who is more expensive. the cheapest console is...second is...third...

This is the Playstation 3 we're talking about here, not the Dreamcast.

Sony isn't going bankrupt, but they're losing money.

I understand this, but I don't really care as long as I still get my games.

yeah i got u, i didnt see that last part at first so i apoligize. sony wont go bankrupt n e time soon unless some huge scandel or sumthin. they r smart, they will get their head into the game and keep it there for long. dont worry. i strongly think they came into this generation knowing that the first couple of years r going to b rough, media insults left and right and such. but overall, the people at sony r smart, they wont mess up like with the dreamcast. now if sony came out with a new system in another year or two, yes that could screw them up, but they have already said the ps3 will be here for a while. i think at least 8 years, pushing for 10.

If you want to look at the gap closing numbers, the PS3 has been catching up. Part of that reason is because the 360 has sold so many units already. Remember, it did get a one year jump on everyone (although the Wii still surpassed it but we all know the crowd they are reaching). As the PS3 begins to sell more, unless killer-apps like MGS4 and more top notch exclusive games come out for it, the sales will slow down as the 360 has over time making it harder for the system to pass it up.

The main attle, obviously, will be in the software. The PS3 is picking up well but it must contend with every killer-app that the 360 puts out. PS3 met Gears of War 2 with Resistance 2 and I believe Gears won that out. Resistance 2 was leaps and bounds better than Resistance, in my opinion, but it was still no Gears.

The silent killer for the PS3 to pass up the 360 will have to be PSN in general and Home. It is already hurting that it is taking so long to release. If there was any lacking function of Home or anything that could make the experience a bad one, it could hurt the PS3 because it certainly would not help. The NXE (New Xbox Experience for those who don't know) has been getting very good reviews. Compile that with the fact that their Live service is better, if the PS3 wants to go toe to toe with the Xbox 360 with online service, it must deliver with Home (because it does look worth it) and it must have consistent, reliable online service--it has been improving also. PSN is mountains higher than NWFC which to most is not saying much but in terms of free online service, it is saying a whole lot.

they will move up eventually. the ps2 is just now starting to lose steam so it prolly wont b long. but there r still some great games coming out for the ps2, and just wait til god of war 3 comes out. all the god of war fans that r still on ps2s r gonna rush so they can play the 3rd. in time, they will get more used to developing for the ps3, so the games will more than likely be even better.

Yes...this is true as also, when they get use to it they all would see...Yes PS3's FFXIII would be made in PS3 first, THEN ported to 360, so if the game passes the maximum GB capacity a XBOX 360 CD can hold (I think is 15GB), then either some parts would be cut of, graphics would be scaled down, or more discs would be made in order to fit all that's needed....RPG in the PS3 is slowly slipping aways, as Square Enix moves more to the Wii, we wont see alot of love from them, I remember PS3 was known for RPG, that's why I bought one, well one of the reasons, Kingdom Hearts 3, FFXIII, and other RPGs, in order to fill in the gap we need to regain more and more RPGs...yea I'm really upset because of this.
