I've got a Samsung SyncMaster 172T and i read few review of it and it has DVI-D input at the back.

So i understood that i have to buy a HDMI to DVI cable but can i have any cable like this or specificly HDMI to DVI-D?

what i wanted to know was if i'd get an HD image like that and how do i use it? how do i switch from viewing the PC to viewing the XMB on my PS3?

thanks alot to anyone that helps!

First off, is it HDCP compatible? If so, just get a cable here:

Seems like an old monitor so it might not be HDCP compatible.

That monitor is not HDCP compliant, you would not be able to hookup the PS3 to that monitor via HDMI, you might be able to use a VGA Box and Component cables.

Ah maybe, whats the maxiumum resolution supported by that monitor?

1280x1024?

If so you would have black bars on the top and bottom of the screen...

I would say stick with your current CRT, unless you have the cash to spend on a new monitor.
