I have a PAL 60GB PS3 with 4 usb slots. they will all charge controllers, and they all let me use a usb keyboard. None of them will recognise i've plugged in a usb or my psp. Not like when no files show up. But the usb won't show up under any of the xmb sections. I've restarted my ps3. turned it off at the back. reformated usb. I dont know how to fix it. what am i doing wrong?

May sound like a stupid question, but are you setting the PSP into USB mode when you hook it up?

Also, when you say "USB" by itself, are you referring to a storage device? If so, they have to be formatted in FAT32 for the PS3 to read. NTSC and the like are not compatible with it.

when you put a USB in the PS3, you have first to create a folder called PS3, then sub folders called VIDEO, MUSIC ... or it won't recognise it, you can press triangle and select "display all"

I think i know what's wrong, the ps3 only accepts FAT-32 partitions and your usb might be an NTFS partition. You can check what partition/file system it is by plugging it into a comp and going to properties.
