My PS3 got YLOD, for the second time, last night and I'm not sure what I should do. Should I get a refurb or buy a brand new one?

I got YLOD after about 4 months and had to pay around £136 last time I don't want to spend ANOTHER £136 and it get YLOD before even a year is up.

What should I do?

What GB is it? If it only lasted 4 months last time... you might as well buy a Slim

It's a 60GB model with a 300GB hard drive in it.

In the same situation I got a slim. It beats a garbage refurb model in nearly every way but you could give it a shot at repairing it yourself.

Refurbs are hardly dependable most of the time. When my 60GB YLOD'd, 5 minutes later I was already on my way to Best Buy for a new PS3.

I don't want to try to fix at home in case I get it wrong and brake it even more. I think I'll just buy a new one.

I decided to get another refurb, it was free seeing as I've only had it 4 months. It arrives on Monday, hopefully this one will last longer.
