i got my ps3 on the 23rd and when i got it i tried to play ffXII but it said that game would not work on the ps3(altough it said in that compatibility site it would, with only a few minor problems).
After that i tried many other games...and none work, ps2 games that is.
I'm just wondering if anyone has that same problem in europe

you have to update your PS3's firmware to 1.60, FFXII works fine

yes, you need internet access, however, you can download the update from a pc, save it onto a storage device (USB stick, compactflash, SD card...), plug that storage device into your PS3 and update it that way. You can download the update from here , although I'm not 100% sure if there are differences between US and European firmware (there shouldn't be though).

Oh, and the BC list isn't 100% correct. There are games that work, but aren't on the site, like FFVII and Tomb Raider.
