Id be careful man it might not seem like ur ps3 is getting hot because of the room temperature but it might be burning up. But to stay on topic my ps3 is quiet as a mouse... I could sleep with it on, actually my gf does sleep while I play sometimes and it doesnt even sound like its on

I leave my PS3 on overnight sometimes in my room to download big patches or demos. I did last night for Burnout's patch (420 MB! :() and I slept just fine. I do find that I wake more during the night when I do that and I'm almost sure that I'm subliminally telling myself in my sleep to wake up and shut it off because I don't want to leave it on for too long. :P

I would be more concerned if it didn't make a sound in a hot room. But then I keep the house at a fairly comfortable temp (not real cool but barely comfortable) and it never get's loud. I found that having it in a open area (on top of the entertainment cabinet) and standing vertical seems to really help keep the temp down somewhat. Also I never turn my system off unless there's a severe thunderstorm close by.

I worry a bit in my sleep and that's why I wake up too. Nothing to do with sound. Although one time (again for Burnout's ridiculously large patches) I woke up when I heard the disc spinning really loudly and Burnout always does that so it was a good indicator to tell me to turn it off. :P I wish I could turn it off automatically after patches...

Not only will it keep you ps3 ect cool but YOU as well. so much bettergameing and watching movies when your not sweating like a pig ;)

using folding @ home (or Life with Playstation) puts the console at a low state of power, which usually never allows it to kick into high gear. My PS3 gets loud when the room is hot, but ever since I started folding, it's quited down significantly.
