PS4! Happy or disappointed?

So, news is breaking out about the release of Sonys next gen console being released in the near future. I am sure a majority of people are excited about this. But I am curious if there is anyone out there like me that thinks the PS3 is still in its prime and could release alot of groundbreaking games? Don't get me wrong I am psyched about PS4. But I just believe PS3 still has so much life and potential left that is there really a need to already be releasing the PS4. And not to mention having to invest money in yet another console. Cuz lets be honest even if u ain't quite ready for the next gen console, u are most likely gonna get it pretty soon after its release. Or at least I will. Tell me your thoughts on this news.

I think it is way too early. I personally wouldn't mind not hearing about a new console until at least 2015.

Honestly I think the PS3 has life left, but in 18 months, I think I'll be feeling it's time for a PS4.

they never said that the ps4 will be released any time soon all they said was "PS4 in 18 months" That does not mean that the system will come out then. They will most likely reveal it in 18 months and then the PS4 will not actually release until 2014. The PS3 is still in its prime and Sony and the Devs do realize this

I think in 2 years tops, we will be hearing alot about this ps4. Technology, 1 year is 10 years. =D Embrace it!

The head of EA just said today, that Sony may not know how to improve the PS3 in a big way as of yet.

Its already got online and multiplayer, so its just graphics, and being a huge 3rd party publisher, he said EA might not know how to improve on the gameplay side.

I just hope they don't move TLG and FFVERSUS to the PS4...

Im fine with the ps3...but a ps4 would be nice, they need to change alot of little things imo

I'm perfectly happy with my PS3 and won't be sinking any money into a new console for at least a couple of years. There are tons of great games available for it, and why should I spend a pile of cash on something that will only have a launch lineup of games?

Assuming these "reports" about the PS4 coming out soon have any validity at all - and they're probably pure conjecture - I'll be perfectly happy to wait until there are plenty of games available for it, and the price comes down from the always ridiculous launch price.

Not being someone who needs the new thing right away, they can release hardware until it's up to the backside and I could care less. They're not showing enough reason to cause me to *koff" "upgrade" - What, so there can be 64 player games of CoD? Nope. They'll need to show me some fantastic reason to sell me anything before 2016.

Announce until you're blue in the chin, Sony. But PC game sizes and structures aren't that distant a cousin to console gaming anymore, in my opinion. If the thing comes any sooner that just makes it cheaper with a larger library of $20-or-less games they didn't sell the first time through, by the time I DO start to consider buying.

People are starting to use their heads now... Look at a certain hand-held that was projected as the hot stuff, going through a price drop four months into it's life because they aren't showing much in the way of upgraded SOFTWARE to run on the dang thing. No one is buying until there's a killer app, so the hardware is rotting on the vine and they're dropping the price to try and gain an install base because once you own one they figure you'll buy the crappy software out of desparation. It's a joke, and we all know it, to release new hardware until there's a reason from the software side.

I'm staying on this gen for a long time no matter what sort of silly crud they devise to cram into a box and stamp "PS4" on the side. I've got enough of a backlog to last until AT LEAST 2016.

The PS3 has many years left.. They are STILL making PS2 games! PS3 games will still be made for years to come and if they come out with a PS4 it wont bother me since i plan on sticking with the PS3 for a LOT longer. At least if they come out with a PS4 games on the PS3 might get a bit cheaper.Rattlesnake_8

I will not be buying it until about 2 years after it releases. I bought my PS3 at the beggining of 2008 and I have loved it but I remember the PS3 was I think 600$ dollars when it released plus it had almost no games so I think I will wait to get a PS4 unless they have a lot of really good games at launch.

The PS4 will launch in a couple years and it will have the similar price tag of the launch ps3 ($600) or most likely more, will have bugs (ylod) like most launch systems and it will only have like 2 or 3 decent games worth playing at the time. It is always better to wait a while after launch system so the price goes down, the bugs are fixed and the library of "good" games increase. I am in no rush to get ps4.

if it comes out now im definatly not getting it. ps3 still got 3-4 years

PS4? PS3 hasn't even had a decent FF game and The Last Guardian hasn't come out yet. PS3 won't reach its peak until they do.

I just got my ps3 back in April so I won't be joining the next generation for at least another six or seven years. It already takes forever for games to get made this gen so I don't even want to think about development time for the next one.

The PS3 still has one or two years of life left in it. I would welcome a PS4 in 2013/2014.

i am happy to hear thats there a ps4 in the works. but i dont believe ill be getting my console when it comes out. Sony has always dropped the ball when it comes to releases like God Of War 2 for the ps2 when the ps3 was already out. as for my reason to not getting it on release. is that i still have plenty of games that i didnt finish or even play and im sure many of you have such a list. save ur money and get the games u missed out on, and in the end you will have more ps3 games at the ps4 launch than ps4 games combined

Happy that Playstation 4 is coming. PS3 has been out since November 11(17) 2006. 2007,2008,2009,2010,2011, So Sony has hinted at a 2013 release for PS4.

It is not to early for Playstation 4, November 2013 is when we will see Playstation 4 at retail. By that point PS3 will be 7 years old. So I am ready for Playstation 4 now. But I just hope Sony does a good job in getting the Playstation 4 ready.

Happy is my vote. Whether PS4 will be worth it? 2013 will have the answer.

I agree that it feels too soon, however I just bought my PS3 this year so it would be very unlikely that I purchased the next console at launch anyway. I just wouldn't want the new console tocut in onthe development for the PS3 any time soon.

regardless of when the systems released i won't be getting one until there are some games worth picking up on it. i dig my ps3, but when it first came out there weren't many good games and it lasted for way too long.

i'm disappointed that you made a thread about something that sony said isn't coming out for a hand full of years
