This may seem like a small thing but, having in-the-box headsets is what made the 360 great. Gamers were able to chat with their friends right away with very little hassle and it's(having headsets) the one that really helped xbox live take off.
Sony, having launched the PS3 a year late never realized the importance of making online connecting with friends hassle-free and it suffered because of it. Pairing headsets with the PS3 and configuring what audio comes out of what source is still a bit of a hassle and most online experiences still suffer from not enough PS3 gamers using headsets. Why then, WHY, in their big push to state that they're working hard to making connecting with friends a priority would they not ship headsets standard, in-the-box???
Like I said, a small detail but one that would've made the PS4 a lot more community-friendly at launch.
