hi all, i bought a ps3 over the weekend and i'm super excited about it, looking forward to some of the games coming up, blah blah blah... but i put in all my info and signed up for the psn network and whatnot, and looked at my bank account today and there's a $1 charge? for what it's worth, it's only a $1 and i don't particularly care, but i don't remember being warned at any point that i would be charged anything, and i just want to make sure i didn't misunderstand something... i only downloaded the gthd demo (free) and the 2 min. lair video (also free). my assumption is that the charge is just a temporary authorization check, and it will disappear and not actually be taken out of my account, but does anyone know for sure? thanks alot. also, forgive me if this has been asked before or is mentioned somewhere prominently, i've looked through my manual, and on this board, and didn't see anything (though i could easily be overlooking something obvious).

I'm not totally sure, but I think that's just a temporary charge for authentication purposes. Not 100% sure on that though.

You don't get charged anything. It's a free network.

is it a charge or a credit?

Usually most online vendors will do this to make sure your account is valid. Paypal deposits two ammounts of like 50 cent roughly to make sure your account is in a real bank to varify you. I wouldnt worry about it.

No, when you sign up to the net work you dont need anything like that, the only time you need a creditcard is to buy online content like PSP games or the downloadables like Gripshift or Blast factor. other than that you're free to do what ever you like the instant you get your system on and put a game in.

It's for AUTHENTICATION purposes (like if you're not just making up an account). AOL did this to me, and I believe most things that don't have immediate purchases do (even XBL, I believe).
