I love that PSN provides the same as Xbox Live these days without the cost.

I love how I can USUALLY find a game.

But what gives on the silence? I went to Best Buy the other day to check on a headset and on their giant wall with PS3 accessories, they only had one generic headset standing by itself.

If PSN is truly going to compete with Xbox Live, there needs to be more talking!! I may regret this statement because lord knows I have cursed the day that every unemployed stoner and 5th grader was allowed to talk freely on Xbox Live but a little sense of community ain't always a bad thing.... ya know?

Maybe Sony should start enclosing free headsets in its bundles? Or provide discounted headsets? If it's going to win the online war, it needs to start building an online talk community NOW!

I don't like chatting in games much, because people actually CHAT IN THE DAMN GAME! Here I am trying to concentrate on the game, and I have some retarded reckneck talking alone.

What's the point of having an headset if you use it to say stupid things.

I wish people used their headsets to do some tactics, that's what I do or chat with friends :P

oh.. i hate that ... before COD4 had mute i was stuck listening to someone go on, and on, and on.. which they're dumb little friends about their geography homework.. i was littleraly just screaming obsenities at them to shut up by the end of the match.. i'm pretty sure they just left their mic on the whole time with actually wearing it.

Racist pricks make people not want to use headsets. 90% of the talking that goes on in cod4 is trash talk/racist comments.

A huge part of why I traded my 360 had to do with the "talk" on LIVE.

I dont mind. I usually end up muting people anyway. for example, today I was playing R6V2 and all i could hear was some 12 year old swearing with his extremely high pitched voice, so I muted him. Then I heard his echos through someone elses mic, so I muted them.

I ended up muting just about everyone, they did not speak really so it did not matter. If XBL is full of people like that, people under the age of around 15 who just continously swear and play rubbish music, I think I will do without it.

So many mic users are just plain annoying. If you beat them, they drop F bombs. If they're winning, they drop F bombs. Sure, in-game talk is nice, but some of it just gets annoying. For example ----

1. babies crying in the background

2. F bombs

3. dogs barking in the background

4. anyone under the age of 12 thinking they're sweet because they can swear at you

5. people playing their music over their mic as if i want to hear it

6. fat guys breathing into the mic very very loudly

Sometimes I wonder if it's worth the hassle and would rather just listen to the game's sound effects.

With Warhawk you could buy it over the PSN for 40 bucks compared to the 65 bucks buying it or others games at the store so most people went for the cheaper price like I did. I have a mic now but I hardly use it cause I don't want to sound stupid in front of my family and when I do use it I really don't have much to say:|, I know I need to work on it but its a new experience for me.

Sorry for double post but I wanted to say something.

When I had an Xbox I got Xbox Live. I did use the headset a lot, but then again there were so many people that cursed and the 12 year olds and kids screaming with high pitched voices don't even get me started.

Even in Castle Wolfenstein and many other games.

Especially.......*cough Halo 2!!!! *cough

The only game I've kind of experienced that on the PS3 so far is COD4. But it's no where near as bad.

Its funny that whenever I use the headset there is no talking in the games I play or lame whining. But when I don't have the headset on then there is actual strategy. Here is my plea to people with mics, I don't care if you think your strategy is good or not but a strategy is better than no strategy. I try to listen to the people that talk as best I can. If you need help somewhere just say so and people will try to help if they can.

the thing that drives me crazy...is people who dont listen to strategy at all. I was playing Search and Destroy team tactical at my friends house who has a mic, and my other 2 teammates were getting slaughtered...so i would tell them to try going this way just for advice. But no one listened so i asked if they could even hear me and they said yes -_- ended up with 10 kills 2 deaths yet they had around 2 to 3 kills just because they couldnt listen to advice i was giving...

It's interesting.

So many ppl use blu tooth now with their phone but don't know they can use the same headset with their PS3 lol.

I like blu tooths, but I hope there is one to last longer than 6 hrs without breaking the bank.

I mean seriously? Using one earpiece for my laptop, phone and PS3? Heck yes lol.

Yeah I know what you mean. I hate it when there are those people that ask for help, die two seconds later, and then start cursing at everyone. But yah, If I can I will help out. One time a guy was running with the flag and needed air support so I just got in a plane and boosted all the way to where he was,...killed the planes and protected him. I was distraught though that I was the only one helping in a game with 32 people.

Exactly.

I always talk to my real friends on CoD4 or whatever, but a part from that, why on earth to I want to hear strangers talking rubbish?

You are so right on with your list. I have heard every one of those. Just yesterday I heard 1 and 3. I talk on my mic only when necessary which isn't often. I find I mostly use it to tell people to shut the hell up.

Just thought of another one. The other day I was playing COD4 and all I could hear was static from someone's mic. Sounded like radio static. So annoying. Everyone in the match ended up leaving the game because of this guy and his static.

I try to only play with people that only use mics. Games like say Battlefield you need it to plan out stuff. Whenever I play Rainbow Six I always host and if someone does not have a mic they get the boot!
