PSN ID? What the...

Im very confused with the PSN setup. I dont yet have my PS3 yet, should have it by next weekend but I would like to be prepared :D.

I have a 360 and with that its as simple as create an account and plug in (obviously with stupid paid subscription). Anyway with PS3 ive it sounds more complicated iveseen people posting about creatinga user and then on the user creating a PSN ID and that kinda makes me like; WTF man!

Can anybody give me a briefing on setting it up, what you need to do etc? Will come in handy next weekend.

Basic setup. Email and password (plus some additional stuff, like phone number, address etc.) for login, and the PSN ID to represent your cyber-self. Oh, and a pre-made avatar:D.

Avatar meaning like a image (like in Gamespot). In home you have 8 slots to have true 3D custom avatars in. Costumes are either sold or given away for special events (take the KZ2 Helgast costume, for example). Sorry I confused you. Oh and themes are usually free (but those suck), I recommend the paid ones.

I will try and find some shots of some themes. Home sounds a bit suckish as you have to pay for everything but i guess its no worse than money grabbing microsoft. Well i guess thats what business is amout, making money. I probably wont bother downloading home, id rather spend time on games and not get tempted with buying stupid tables and chairs for a room.

Pretty sure you're getting user profiles and PSN IDs confused. Just think of it like a PC. You've got users you log in to (welcome screen), and then you've got their own online IDs (like Windows Live). That way different users on the same console can have their own PSN ID attached to their profile to prevent screwing with each other's stats and whatnot. Whoever you've been listening to is apparently making it way more complicated than it really is...unless they were talking about Konami IDs and MGO IDs. Now that process is ridiculous, but not necessary unless you're trying to play Metal Gear Online.

That might be fun, Im usually on photoshop most of my time anyway so Ill just use that. Are there any template sort of things?
