Had some fraudulent charges attempted on my credit card today and they started at PSN. I know a few people who have also had credit card info leaked from PSN and got me thinking how un secure their store is. I think it is appalling that a company as large as Sony would not set up better protection for the Playstation Network. I recommend not using a card for purchases and instead purchase PSN network cards.

Someone must of just gotten on your account. Get a better password or start using PSN Cards. The only time i hear someone geting charge for stuff they didnt buy was from message from the PS3 and they clicked a link.

How on earth can it get leaked? Someones gotten into your account obviously. Try not to follow any links on PSN messages, there chain messages and scams.

Always use prepaid. I don't trust any service that has access to my financials. I don't think anyone should. In this economy, as desperate as people are, anyone can be a potential criminal.

Visa gift cards are a bit of a waste. You have to pay more than the card is worth, PSN cards are a better value imo.

Yep both with PSN and Xbox Live I only use pre-paid cards. I know if you give Xbox Live your credit card information you have to call up and wait on hold to talk to a live person to cancel your subscription, what a hassle - not sure if the new PSN Plus is like that or not.

The only security risk problems that have been confirmed that I heard of is game sharing. Did you choose a goodsecured password or something that people can guess?

I never click any PSN links or share my password with anyone. In fact my general paranoia about info being compromised causes me to err on the side of being over cautious. It was taken from the account info and accessed without knowledge of the password. In the passed I have deleted the card info as soon as I use it but this time i hadn't. Lesson learned! Just be aware the PSn store is not as secure as you might hope and that paying with a psn network card or visa gift card (if you wish to waste your money on that gift card garbage) is the safest bet.

Gift cards or use PSN cards. There are two options NOT to use your CC and be charged an interest rate as well as become a security risk since that's all people are really after these days anyway.

Just wipe that clean off your profile and go with either of the other two options. Don't trust anything. I honestly knew it wouldn't last long anyways.

its more likely the users fault, i mean i doubt sonys security for entering ur CC info is that bad. either they gameshare and not think twice about wat they have on their profile and wat not. or they just that careless. i mean i know alot of ppl including me who use their CC info but remove it once we make a purchase and we never had any so called 'hackers' or w.e u want to call em lol. not sayin it wont happen to us, just that when using ur credit card u need to be careful and know hwo to use it and remove it once u done using it. ur CC info is ur life man, u dont want someone to just freakin use ur card and as sony policy goes no refunds even if ur name been hacked

You are correct, removing the credit card info immediately after you use it is key. However, if you do not there is a very good chance that your info will be compromised and that is what I think shows a lack of appropriate security on Sony's part. If you are going to offer services like auto fund transfer to your store wallet then you should insure that you have sufficient security in place to back it up.

I always delete billing info once used. I cant believe Sony would take such a risk. Btw since we're on this topic, how did that 'psn under attack with that code generator' thing turn up? We couldnt get hacked by visiting the site, we would have to put our info there right?

You realize that if you pay your cc bill immediately you are not charged an interest rate right?

yea, but u cant make or take chances just cuz u think a company should be better when it comes to security. i mean no matter how loyal or good a company is, YOU yourself gotta be on top of things. thats why i always remove my billing info as soon as i make a purchase. but i do understand where u coming from sayin why would sony take this risks. but thats why i dont trust any company. cuz they all after YOUR money, so unless ur( the buyer/user) is on top of ur grind and need to delete ur info right away after purchases

I don't know. I never fall for the emails but I'm starting to think that if you have an account with your credit card info listed as part of your "secure" PSN profile that they get pick out by the code generators. In short, if you use a card delete the info in your account immediately after you use it!

Yea I hear you and i am on top of it but how long will deleting your info immediately after a purchase be safe. You are taking chances assuming that Sony is on top of it enough that deleting the info immediately will always keep it safe. Who knows what devious minds are working on as we type away.
