ye its a great game , but if i were in his shoes i'd be at a dilema aswell... on 1 hand i have sf4 so theres not really a need for sfhdremix on the other hand tekken 5 is REALLY fun..but tekken 6 is coming out later this year so it would be kinda a waist of money... HmmmTekken 5. Better graphics, better gameplay, and better online component. Even thought the online component is $9.99 more, it's well worth it. Its one of the few PS3 games I try to play every day.
I'd say tekken dr with the online component. I think it ends up being around 30 bucks and you can practice your skills for the next tekken. And since the new one isn't coming till the fall you will have time to save up money for it. Hd remix is cheaper but feels so limited in terms of things in the game. Tekken dr has lots of modes and customizeable costumes.
what about combos and special moves, ive never played a tekken game
TIGERLIONX
Well tekken has a really indepth command list with all the moves and combos. Street fighter games list the special moves but not the combos. Only street fighter 4 has a mode where you can learn some combos.

Every character in Tekken has 100+ moves for combos, cancels, throws, and just regular moves. Plus it helps that Tekken is 3D, so you can do things like runs, sidesteps, rolls, and more. Street Fighter is 2D, and so the game is limited on how you play. In SF HD, every characer has about 15+ moves total. Yeah, Tekken has more bang for your buck.

Yea but you gotta keep in mind that about half of the moves aren't really viable in tekken. I mean you can do a really dramatic kick but why do it when it takes 3 seconds for you to pull it off? Most people learn the knockups, chains, and juggles and forget the rest.

True, very true. But the moves are there, especiall the ground ones. Every move has a use for some situation. I hate SF for the fact that people use Ryu or Ken, back up into a corner and just throw Hadoukens. Boring.

Yea, it was sucks to play against people that spam a move no matter the game.

Yeah, I've been playing Tekken for the past 11 years. It's my favorite fighting game, and one that I've actually mastered

Who do you main? I have been playing it off and on for a few years. In 5 I use mostly Asuka, ganryu, jinwei, and brian. I used to play jun before but since shes gone I use asuka. I don't know who I played in one though. I am more of an sf player though. Both games are great in their own ways though.

Asuka....I am the king with her. Took me forever to chain together her 25 hit combo, but I did, and it works great with someone who blocks a bunch, or is in mid attack!
Tekken 5 is double the price of street fighter. You get around 30 something characters in Tekken 5 while in street fighter you only get 17. In Tekken you get an arcade mode which is just like it is in most fighters, play 10 rounds and fight the boss at the end. Ghost Fighter mode lets you fight against actual play styles from actual people from the arcade, the higher the rank, the tougher the character, you can rank your guy up and earn money to buy things. vs mode is your standard 2 player mode. Online lets you fight online. Survival mode plays like any other survival mode. Fight angaist people with minimal health regeneration.
Fighting games usually come down to what you are a fan of more. Do you want to play a 2d fighter with projectile attacks, or do you want a 3d hand to hand combo experience. Neither one is better than the other. There is more to do in Tekken but it is double the price. I would say buy tekken 2 for cheap first, but that game is super slow compared to the newer games and doesn't resemble the tekken of today.

gamenerd15
wowo that helped alot, thank you very much
one question, what you can buy in tekken5?
if this helps, i loved soul calibur3
i have both and i have to say that SF Turbo HD Remix is better. i dont even play Tekken 5 online anymore not that its a bad game i just never got into tekken. BTW SF Turbo HD>SF4 FACT...
You can buy endings for the characters armored king, lilith, and segei dragunov. You can buy image art with the money as well. This game isn't a full blown release, 30 dollars is a bit pricey but if you are into tekken, then you might like it. In your case it is hard to tell because you don't seem like a hardcore fan of either one. I would hate for you to spend money or these games and not like them. They are both a little too expensive. Street Fighter is expensive because it doesn't offer any other modes really other than arcade mode, vs, and online. Tekken 5 offers you a few more game modes but at double the price. You could just buy the original game for 20 dollars but you won't get online or survival mode. If Tekken was 20 dollars for the whole package then I would say without a doubt get Tekken 5.
There's one thing I'll mention that no one has. You didn't mention whether or not you're going to be playing solo or against others offline/online more, but if you're planning on just playing solo, the AI of the opponents in SSFIIT HD Remix can be brutal for anyone not familiar with the strategies and gameplay of 2D fighters. I have no idea how much you're willing to learn, but that's definitely something to consider.jt4mtb
mainly because i want an offline fighting game.
i used to play alot SF in the snes, but i never played before a tekken game
Tekken seems more newcomer friendly to me.
I have'nt played takken since TAG for ps2 but that but judging from SF2HD it's definitely not newcomer friendly.

Jt makes a really good point. The ai in the singleplayer of hdremix can be insanely hard at times. Tekken is a bit easier but I think someone mentioned it before they took out all the endings in dark ressurection besides iron king, dragonuv, and lillie's.
