I haven't bought any minis but the pinball games are on my radar. I have the following PSOne games:

"Ten Pin Alley Bowling" - The character graphics might be sort of basic, but the physics of the game are supreme. It takes some practice and definitely feels rewarding when you start making strikes. Points off for a weird save system where-by saving only pertains to Tournament play and not simple character adjustments/ stat tracking, but a GREAT bowling game. Looking forward to the "Animaniacs" version being released which has better character animations and sound work!

"Syphon Filter" - One of the original espionage games, controls well, and you get the backstory on an excellent series to date.

"Medal of Honor" - The first in the series ever, these controls take a lot of tweaking but i have a set-up if you need me to post it which makes the game feel and play like other FPS on the PSP. Some of the best sound work on the system at the time, and a must for FPS historians and fans alike.

"Silent Hill", "Resident Evil", "Resident Evil 2", "DinoCrisis" - C'mon, like any of these need explaining? Greatest. Horror Games. EVER.

"Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen" - Like a dark "Zelda", map and dungeon exploration as you attempt to redeem your soul and avenge your murder, all the while trying to save the land from a greater evil as the anti-hero who launched a half-dozen sequels.

"REEL FISHING" - Just trust me on this one if you enjoy relaxing, non-pressure oriented gaming. A great sorbet for cleansing the palette after intense action games and such. I know it sounds like a joke but I'm serious. Not for everyone but it has to be one of my favorite games of all time. No shouting, no timer, no "Bass Challenge" arcade crud, just quiet fishing. Unlocking new locations, fish species collection, and tackle are some of the perks.

"PANDEMONIUM!" - Absolutely hands-down one of the most fun 2D-That-Looks-3D side-scroller platforming games you will ever play on any system... and from the trippy colorful visuals, you'd swear there's something in your drink.

"Twisted Metal 2" - Best of the series, still cotrols and feels the best out of all the entries in the franchise. Blow up the Eiffel Tower, enter the 'Minion Code'... it's all there!!!

All of these games are worth the money you will spend, and hours you will subsequently play. Hope this helps!

I would recommend the Syphon Filters too. Used to love playing them on the PSone and was good to relive the experience again and reminisce on the PSP.

Very good games of their time although may not stand up to your expectations of the games of today.

I can safely tell you to stay away from RE:Director's Cut,it hasnt aged well and costs twice as much as another bad egg KOF'99. If your looking for an rpg go for Suikoden or Wild Arms they are both great and Suikoden is very unique.

From the mini's I've got Tetris and Vempire and both are pretty good. Tetris speaks for itself and Vempire is a sort of bejeweled type game - not bad for the price and for some short bursts.

From the PSOne classics I've only got International Track and Field which has ported quite well onto both PSP and PS3!

As for minis - Mahjongg Artifacts: Chapter 2 is a VERY solid, puzzle/logic game. It's better designed than PC version - believe me, my whole family plays it on PC and everybody feels better in PSP version :) Cheap, fun and good replay value (collecitng artifacts, just like trophies). As for PSone classics - in EU there is only Crash Bandicoot 3, Final Fantasy VII (the best RPG ever created on PSX) and latest Metal Gear Solid. US Store has waaaaay better games: Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Soul Reaver.. I find PSX games playing at least for 30 minutes because they were not intended for portability (long periods of time between savepoints).

I totally disagree that the survival horror games haven't aged well, but i guess it's a matter of taste and gaming experience. I'm probably older and so the controls don't feel broken and the graphics don't look bad. I remember watching that opening scene from "RE2" over and over!

But as I said I'm older so it doesn't mean as much to me to see a bit of a graphic step into history if it's for a good cause... and in this case, being able to play "Dino" and "RE2" again, on the move and at work on my break rocks. No disrespect of your viewpoint intended, I get where you're coming from. Someone else might not feel that way, I find it best when dealing with vintage game reviews to basically assume the reader understands the regression.

I think they're great.

It's like looking at a picture of your girl the day you met her...

:D

I'm considering the "Backstreet Pool". Seems it got good reviews back in the day and I love those old sports games for quick-blast gaming! "Ten Pin" is my latest addiction now that I've figured out which compound of ball, the proper weight, and getting the right spin.

The PSOne games are my favorite thing about PSN and probably always will be!

There's only one minis game worth getting right now and that's cubixx. Not sure if it's out world wide yet, but it came out in Europe before Christmas, it's the cheapest game on psn and I'm still going back for more when I find myself with a spare 20 minutes. It's been developed for only psp so it's not another iphone re-hash, and quite frankly I can't get enough of it. It even looks great on the ps3 emulator which can't be said for many of the minis. Look out for this one, for the price it's a no brainer.

I download a lot of ps1 classics because the PS1 was my favorite console ever. Some gems I've downloaded on my PSP include Resident Evil 2 and Suikoden.

the best miniS are from developers half brick. They made Echoes and Blast off. Both are only 3 dollars US and are exactly what miniS are suppost to be about. In echoes you are a little girl trying to get all her "coins" while trying to avoid her echoes (the protagonist of the game, echoes is similar to pac-man) Blast off consist of you piloting a space craft around planets, black holes, and metiors to capture stranded spacemen. This game is by far the best of the miniS and the one i would recommend. Try lookin at a gameplay footage of both on youtube. Either way I dont think anyone will be disappointed with either except echoes has little replay value and blast off has a lot. I give echoes a 7 and blast off a 8.5.

The other 3 miniS i have a tetris, fieldrunners, and hero of sparta. I would only recommend Fieldrunners as it is a solid port of an original iphone game. Its a tower defense game but great for short plays. Tetris is self explanitory and hero of sparta is the one purchase on the psn that i regret. After playing chains of olympus, hero of sparta feels like a cheap immitation (which is what it essentially is going for) that is from the super nintendo generation. I wouldnt get hero. And if you like tetris then this one is good on the go, but lumines is better, and I would say instead of getting fieldrunners you should opt for pixeljunk monsters
