Well i have a PS3. But i want a PSP. Which one is better for a new person coming into the world of PSP to buy? A 3000 or GO? The GO is more flashy, but i hear complaints about it. The 3000 seems nice though. Any thoughts?

It really depends on you, im a digital consumer considering i use steam alot, so the PSP Go might naturally fit my style. But the 3000 has a Bigger selection of games due to UMD disks. where as sony has not transferred all of the games on the Playstation store. TBH, the PSP Go gets too much hate imo, I think its a fine system, and with a little more support from sony and games It could be much more fleshed out and welcomed. But i do think the Go on its own is a great device.
If its your first time buying the system, I suggest downloading Media Go, looking at the game selection vs the UMD selection. then decide which you want to buy. For me all of the games i like/want are on PSN so it really dosn't bother me if I got a Go. However if you want to experience every inch of the library then I highly suggest the 3000.
The hardware is the same TBH. screen is a little smaller on the Go but not a huge deal, there is bluetooth on the Go as well. but other than that. there the same device.

You can fallow that link for the download, I do agree that 250 is a high price. but I have heard many say it feels like a more premium/luxury device as opposed to the other PSP's, Amazon has the pearl white for $221 which is nice. And eBay has them really cheap if you can find them. But really the price is the only thing that bothers me about the Go, not the Digital platform, in fact I love that about the Go, UMD's are a huge hassle to me. and the PSP 3000, while slim, Dosnt fit in your jeans that well, Esp if you have a logitech case with it.
I made the choice to get the 3000. However, I will say that I took the Go into consideration. The GOs screen is a little better, and I even think the analog nub might be a little easier to use--though to be fair I haven't tested either enough to really say. The price tag was a bit of a killer for me. $250? Really? I spent $200 and got the 3000, Peace Walker, a case, AND a 4 gig mem stick. So part of it was having a hard time justifying the $250 standalone system, when I'd have to throw another $40 for a game, and probably another 20--give or take--for some type of case/sleeve. That's over $300 for the dang thing. THEN I glanced at the selection of umds. It could have been bigger, but I was surprised that so many games were in the $15-$20 range. That extra $100 or so actually does go a long way with psp games. I think in buying stuff from bestbuy/amazon--it works out to maybe 7 games or so.
Plus I like the physical aspect. What if the psp format dies and things are no longer sold in the PSN store? Seems unlikely, but its possible.
You can add more memory to the Go, so space is not a problem for the system. As far as looks go its purely subjective. I personally like the Go's sliding design better than the 3000's. But they both look and feel good. I have a 3000 and the only issue is thats it pretty long. but its much slimmer which helps.
Like ive stated if you have the money. and dont mind digital distribution. and enjoy the games on the store. I feel the Go would be a better choice.
I've had a PSP for a while and my limited memory really annoyed me. I recently got a Go and its pretty awesome. Its a lot smaller and more slick. Batterylife is longer too (last around 5-6 hours). I'd rather take a go with me rather than my other PSP. Resume play function is cool and makes it more practical as you stop at any point during a game. The older PSPs you could turn off and turn back on and it would stay at the same screen but now you can do other stuff and then resume your game later. Browser is slightly better, not much. With so much memory on it I actually have music, pictures, videos, and games on it at the same time.
Main thing is that its a lot smaller without reduceing screen size that much.
I like the PSP 3000 the best due to UMD support and the fact I can use all the UMD games I own from when I was using my old PSP 1000 and I don't have to rebuy them at retailer price on the Playstation Store. I tend to find a lot of PSP games cheap when I'm buying them used which saves me more money then buying a downloadable version.
In defense of the Go, I was at best buy the other day and the psp umd wall seems to get smalling and smaller. I didn't go for the Go, but I can see some advantage in not having trouble finding certain games. While UMDs are nice and cheap a lot of the times, they can be difficult to track down.
Like one poster above said, you can download all the same games with a 3000 as you can with a Go. I downloaded and beat Final Fantasy VII onto my 2gb memory stick. Plus, with memory stick prices dropping like a rock, memory shouldn't be an issue. I thought about getting one instead of a 3000, but I wouldn't be able to play Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII as it's not on the Playstation Network.
I have a psp 3000 and I like it. I like to have my physical games and I've recently bought a UMD case which I can put 8 UMD in (+1 in my psp). So I can have up to 9 UMD on me and the case is smaller than the PSP go. About DL games, I have an Ipod Touch so if I want to download, I'll go there.
PSP Go is great too, but my biggest complaint about it is the prices on PSN. I mean... Dissidia Final Fantasy, one of the coolest game (imo) on the psp, is still 39,99$ and when I go to a Gamestop, I can buy it 20$ used or 25$ new. This is the side of the PSP Go that keeps me away from it.
So with my PSP 3000 + my UMD Case, I can have 9 games on me, that I can resell if I don't play them anymore and buy some new games. My problem with the PSP 3000 is the battery life. But I guess PSP cannot compete with his 4-5 hours of gaming max. life battery against Nitendo DS which has a 12 hours life battery. But it's probably due to his great graphic and resolution.
Anyway, my advice would be look at the UMD games and compare those you would like to have with the PSN. Compare the prices and see which aren't there. And you can buy a Used PSP for about 150$.
I hope it helped :)
Get the 3000, better library overall, and it makes me nervous only having downloaded games. I prefer having physical copies.HybridPhoenixI have been using my Go since November and my collection stands of 206 games, 77 PS1 and 22 minis. No problems playing or downloading any of them so far. :)
I actually just made this decision myself, about buying my first PSP. I went for an used PSP 3000 bundle for $120. I went for the 3000 just cause I enjoy to have the physical games sitting on my shelf without clogging memory just sitting there. Also the go is pretty damn ugly if you ask me, the older PSPs have a very nice look. paradigm68
Yes they are ugly! I would much rather have a physical game copy as well. I like how there is a much larger selection of games on UMD as well. Lets not forget, we can get deals on a physical game by shopping around. The PlayStation Store doesn't have sales.

Actually, there was a sale. Some games even had a permanent price drop.I've had a PSP for a while and my limited memory really annoyed me. I recently got a Go and its pretty awesome. I have the 1GB memory card it came with but I just couldn't bring myself to buy another memory card. It was like $45 dollars for an 8GB one that had been used before. It was a hard decision to make and I had to think hard about it and my reasons weighed in favor of the Go. As I said the main thing about the Go for me was that it was a lot smaller compared to my 2000. I no longer keep my PSP in my room but I actually use it in public, Its a pretty slick device.
