I belive that yes the psp did lose to the ds.

The ds seem to always have more great games. So that for me make the ds the better buy over the psp.

I believe this topic would better suited to System Wars boards..

Anyways.. Personal opinions aside.. Yes. PSP did lose to the DS.. But it is not a flop, like many PSP haters seem to like to believe.

Ds may beat psp in terms of games but psp i think is a better product because of all the stuff that it comes with such as music, and movies, pictures and internet. that to me seems to make it better because its like a mini lap top

ds games may have a better way to play them, but psp games period are better, and i think the psp and the ds are great products but i love my psp way better than my ds when i had it, and i like the way the pspis suited to a more mature audience

the ds is just a bunch of mini games and gimmicks. the only reason it sells is because japan buys whatever nintendo puts out minelessly. the psp has better graphics, expandable memory and more entertainment features just to name a few key features. just because the ds has more games doesnt mean its better.. hell even the pc has more games than the psp but they also include cd mini games that are included in fruit loops and captin crunch.

It is true about the PSP's many functions - MP3/MP4 player, sat-nav, portable tv, internet browser, games console...

but are people forgetting the PSP's games -
- The Godfather
- Gangs Of London
- GTA: LCS
- GTA: VCS
- Hot Pixel
- WTF: Work Time Fun
- Dynasty Warriors 1 + 2
- Loads of good racing games
- Monster Hunter Freedom 1 + 2

to name but a few...

In terms of more depth, the PSP should generally win, due to it's greater capacity than the DS.

That said, I think that the DS is better for portable gaming because it is less valuable, less delicate, and generally has more pick-up and play appeal.

Come on now... these two cant even be put in the same category. The DS is a commercial freindly handheld...and the PSP is clearly for more underground game enthusiasts. The DS is like the music you hear on todays radio.I may like a few songs, butthere's nothing like underground music...its original, deep, and intriguing. PSP vs DS? No contest... PSP is for mature audiences only... its like comparing Sesame Street to Liberty City. They are marketed and directed more towards total different audiences. PSP is rated R and DS is rated E for Everyone.
