According to numerous "reports" & "rumors" the new PSP will be out later this year....but I couldnt help to notice that also we have couple of new PSP 3000 bundles will also be out later this year such like the Assassin Creed and Hannah Montana Bundle.....

So will these bundles be cancelled since Sony is supporting this new UMD-less PSP ??

I highly doubt this "new" psp will be out this year but again whos more bold than Sony....>_>

What do you guys think ?

Screw PSP Go. I'm enjoying my PSP Slim and will keep it for awhile. A whole bunch of games coming out this year and next, why bother with a new PSP?

My feelings exactly. The PSP Go's sliding face is not enough for me to warrant the purchase :P.

There are alot of gmaes coming out (probably on UMD) and there are some games I haven't etheir played or I still play. Give me a Drive and something thats actually new and I will buy it.

I think Sony is still smart enough to continue its support to the 50 million UMD based PSP sold worldwide ^^

If Patapon has gone downloadable only how many other games will? Like previous posts. I dont see why Sony is now looking at making a new portable machine with all these great games out by the end of the year.

It does seem strange for the new model to be out this year. I guess we'll find out at E3.

If the next iteration of the PSP is UMD less, I'm assuming that the old PSPs will be able to download the new games and play them just fine. That means I'll buy a larger memory stick instead of buying a whole new system.

I put more though into that if and when we get confirmation of something new.

I like the new PSP design, but I don't like that (it seems anyway) you can only buy games by downloading them.
Call me old-fashioned, but I need a hard copy of a game in my hands.
I don't like trusting my gaming library to a sensitive harddrive or similar storage media.
Plus, I just like havinga mighty collection to display.

I hope the pspgo! is some sort of a joke by sony. Why would anyone buy the damn thing? No umd drive takes away your ability to play the umds you already have and your psp3000 can already play downloaded games so there is no need to upgrade there. I also can't imagine sony to be dumb enough to take away peoples ability to buy and sell used games. Download only means anyone who trades games or buys used ones is SOL. I personally only buy new games but i trade in a lot and i can say that i definitely wouldn't be buying half as many games as i do now if i lost my ability to trade, i have rent to pay car payments, and credit cards that demand the bulk of my money. Sorry sony but no no umd(or some other kind of cartridge or disk) means no sale for me. I honestly hope this is a joke. At a time when so many good games have been announced(tekken, soul cal, assassins creed) i think this would be suicide for the sony psp right when people were starting to get interested again. Plus if you keep upgrading your Hardware every year people are going to stop buying it because they know it will soon be outdated. I was looking to buy a psp3000 this week but decided to hold off when i heard of the pspgo! And if these rumors prove to be true then i am just going to stick with my DSi.

Am I missing something obvious...?

You guys are asking why would anyone buy the PSP GO? I would! I expect it'll have better storage size and processing power to play bigger games with better graphics... my fingers are crossed for Oblivion Travels...

and what of your old umds? i mean people that trade in their psp 3000 2000 1000 whatever will have no backwards compatability for their umds rendering all of their games useless unless they hang on to their old psp and purchase a psp go! and pay out the full $200 or whatever it will cost. And believe me that will be few people with how scarce money is now, i mean of course you'll have the spoiled brats whose parents will buy them anything to not have to spend time with them but for someone like me with rent, car payments, credit card bills, ect its not practical to expect people to shell out another $180+ for a new system with no backwards compatability.

Plus my biggest problem which is now can you eliminate the used game market? That would be the worst idea ever. What happens if you shell out $40 for a new game and hate it? your stuck sorry you cant even get the $20 gamestop would have given you. What if you beat a game that you liked but has 0 replay value? Sorry either delete it for room in your memory or hang onto it and never play it again. Just doesn't make any sense to me.

Not to mention if sony keeps putting out updated hardware like this no1 is going to want to buy anything from them because they know it will soon be outdated.

perhaps they can go to a starbucks or mcdonalds or even a school since they have free wifi, or they could put a machine into gamestops/ebgames/gamecrazys etc that will allow u to buy from there to.

but if ur talking about people who dont have wifi u can go to the psn store on pc and send stuff over via usb cable.

The internet cafe` idea sounds good for anyone who doesn't have an internet connection, but the dl times are still pretty ridiculous... If they sped up dl times somehow this would be less of an issue. I'm really hoping Sony isn't going to screw over everyone with a UMD-less console like Nintendo is screwing over non-DSi'ers with 'DSi exclusive' games and whatnot.

I thought the decision on the game being Download-only or UMD is decided by the developers........ I really hope Sony will keep support rest of us UMD based psp players worldwide.

How many PSPs have SONY released? How do they expect PSP buyers to buy a console when a new one comes out every year or two? Seriously, they should settle down with a console.
