I just recently saw the Sony press conference and read the article on the psp go. Then I thought: "ok thats all well and good, digital consumer and what not... But isn't $250.00 bucks for a handheld asking too much?" I could buy another wii with that money. On top of that you'll have to buy your games off the playstation network because it doesn't come with the UMD slot. I don't know about you guys but I think I should stick to my fat psp (had it for 4 years already). What do you think? Should we upgrade to the PSP Go or just get a slim or 3000? I do like the design though lol.

I wouldn't buy the PSP go!. IT looks bad, too expensive, NO UMD!!, and a smaller screen. People are better off buying a 3000.

I am just wondering that with it having a memory card slot, will they announce that games will be purchased on memory cards just like it's competitor? I hope so, because I would diffently purchase A psp Go, if the games are able to be purchase on memory cards.8)

I think it'll sell just fine. I don't think it's really going after existing PSP owners. I think it's marketed toward people just getting into the handheld market and/or the gadget-whore crowd. As for no UMD, it's just the future of gaming IMO. Direct download will start to compete with and hold it's own against hard copies. If I have a big enough harddrive (maybe 200GB plus on my console and maybe 25GB plus on my handheld) and they make it attractive enough (read: cheap enough) to buy direct download (say $30 vs $60 retail), then I'd purchase a lot of downloadable content in the future. I like having hard copies of games, but if I can essentially get 2-for-1 game purchases by direct download, then I'd definitely do that.

It will sell when it's first released as all systems sell on launch. However, they have not said the games will cost less and they have not addressed making it more "kid friendly" by protecting the screen, so the PSP will continue to play second fiddle to the DS. I think Sony is really aiming this to the iPod Touch crowd, but I don't think it is small enough or cool enough to compete with the iPod.

The PSP is never going to sell as much as the DS, unless Sony makes something revolutionary, which I doubt looking at their track record.

I think it'll sell... Alright. People are going to ask themselves... "Why would I buy a PSP when I can buy a Wii for the same price?"

We'll see. But I personally feel that many casual people won't buy it simply because downloading large files will be a pain. Maybe if Sony packs the PSN with casual games that are smaller sized, but for the hardcore games, it'll be tough to sell.

Expensive.....sure....but I don't hear anyone complaining about the overpriced apple stuff....

I'm tempted, but I was really hoping for a touch screen. I'll be waiting for the first reviews to see if it's a big enough improvement for me. If I had a fat, the answer would be a definite yes. I've got a 3000 though so the answer is ..... maybe.

I'm getting real tired of these posts, lol we should just have a stickied "PSP Go Price Point, yay or nay?" thread. Seriously, look a page or two back before you post another annoying repeat thread.

At least i am getting a PSP3000 instead.

$250 is too much...$200 should have been the price instead.

Since there is no UMD drive, games will cost full price in the PStore, when you can get them cheaper on Amazon, eBay, Half.com, etc in hard copy.

Also, being UMD free the battery should last longer, but no, it will last the same as previous models.

The placement of the analog stick seems uncomfortable being in the middle...

The only good thing that i see about the Go, is the size and thats it.

Gotta go with the PSP3000 :)

I think you should stick with the fat PSP till something happens to it. I waited and eventually the handheld I originally paid $300 for blew up on me (failed for those who hate exaggerations) which is why I got a new PSP. It's a recession and you have no reason to buy the new console.

another psp go thread... and the endless moaning and complaining continues.. there was an exact thread like this on page 2 from yesterday, and here we are with a new thread about the price issue. its 250$ deal with it. don't buy it, no one is forcing you. i am not buying it since i am happy with my psp2000. psp go has nothing new to offer to mer, so i will wait till they do have something for me to offer. i don't care if they jacked the price to 400$. if i needed that product and did not own a psp ya i would complain too. but they already have options available. get the psp 3000 if you don't want to spend 250.

I think it is too expensive, however I believe that it will sell very well in Japan for the first month, I doubt so much in the states. Regardless I'm personally not buying it until the price is dropped.

Please provide a link of this because if a Sony spokesman did say this he probably isn't a spokesman anymore

Personally, It looks amazingly comfortable to hold in your hand, unlike all of the past portable consoles, apart from the original GameBoy Advance. For this reason, I will buy one.

Let me predict the future... Sony hardcore fanboys will buy it day one, then about 2 months after, there will be a price drop. This happens with all Sony systems. They sell only to the Sony fanboys right away, then move a while after and lower the price.

Since there's no UMD slot, I'm on the wall with the PSP Go. I won't know if I'm interested in it at all until I hear more info on ho Sony will let current PSP owners get the games they own on UMD back- since I've heard they're working on something for that. It'll undoubtedly cost us SOMETHING- but as long as it's cheaper than re-purchasing everything...

Even if Sony has a good plan for that though- I won't be getting a PSP Go anytime soon- not until my PSP-2000 dies probably.

sell sure, but how well?digital era true, but are we in a fully digitall era?just not yet, not for a while. It has to actually sell well to be profitable, not just sell. And on that, i have issues.Im not updating from 3k either, and if they are attracting new customers...they have the chance of getting a DSI, a Ds lite, a PSP....they are competing against themselves. Is not a bad idea, but price, download times, utter lack of UMD support, and self competition is a bad idea. Not to mention gaming money could go also for an xbox arcade or wii at same price. Too many factors against it.

Lately, I've been downloading games off of PSN and I'm really loving the comfort and convenience. That's what attracts me to the PSP Go. But yes, it is still to pricey. But admit it, if you had the money, I'm sure you'd buy it.

there is something that a lot of you guys are overlooking here. a lot of times in my history owning a psp, when i went to the store, i did not find the game i went there for cuz they did not have it in stock. with the download its always in stock! but ya, if you have the money and the need for a psp go then it isnt bad at all. i go login to psn, get the game fast and good to play instead of looking around trying to find the game at different stores. ppl who can afford the 250$ can afford a good internet connection that will support fast download.

I don't understand why people get mad when there are multiple threads on similar topics----WHO THE HELL CARES! It's not like it's taking up precious space on the forum or it's taking anythinig away from anyone. If you really don't want to contribute anything, then ignore the thread, in a few hours, it'll be in the next page or two. Relax, it's just a thread and will most likely repeat itself again, and again esp. when the release date gets closer.

Because there is already a stickied thread for the Go and as you mentioned there are multiple repeat topic a page, sorry if that annoys me but it does and it allows me to vent.
