I think the psp go is very expensive. this day and age, sony shouldnt release such an expensive handheld. which cost 249.99, the same price as a wii and 50 dollars more than the cheapest xbox.

then again it seems like it is superior to the 16gb ipod touch which also do music, video, internet access. but interms of games psp go is superior. do you think it will be a hit because i know ipod touch is just as expensive but everyones been buying it

IMO, no. In fact I had heard Sony was releasing a new model. After seeing the Go, and it's price, I went out and bought a PSP-3000. I prefer to own the physical copy of a disc, and I refuse to spend $80 more for a smaller screen and no UMD drive.

The PSP GO! is severly overpriced.

For one, it costs less to make the PSP GO than it takes to make a PSP 3000. The creation of a 16 GB flash drive costs less than making the UMD disc drive.

Secondly, the PSP 3000 is a profitable device at $169.99. Making the PSP GO at $250, considering it costs less to make compared to the PSP 3000, is a slap to the face of all PSP owners. Anyone who buys this is getting ripped off.

Seriously, don't buy this.

EDIT: As the guy above stated, I too prefer a physical disc/cartridge format. This whole movement to digital distribution leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Instead of consumers in control of pricing and creating a free market control, it'll be strictly controlled by Publishers alone.

I'm not sure if it should be this expensive, but I'm on the fence about buying one or the other. On one hand the Go is expensive, but it is so much more portable. Not only is it smaller, which has made me hesitate about buying a PSP, but it also eliminates UMDs which are too big and fragile to be really portable.

P.S. I know the PSP 3000 can use DL'd games, but it can only have half the capacity of the Go. Bluetooth also makes the Go pretty attractive for ultimate portability.

PS3 wasn't overpriced at launch. Expensive yes, but underpriced. (Remember it costed sony 800 to make each console at launch...)

No a chance.

Not only is it ridiculously overpriced, but I can't advocate any system that relies on download-only content.

Usually id argue you guys are being idiots, and that sony just updates hardware for new users (why not update hardware?).

But this pspGO business is different. For this, new consumers are actually going to be worse off getting this new one, unless they only have really small pockets.

I mean this pspG0 takes out features of the 3000, you cant borrow peoples games, you cant buy used games, and they jack up the price. wtf.

But whatever, Good on sony for making another profit generator. Bad for the ignorant customer who thinks its the next advanced device.

besides this combatting the iphone is a joke. The iphone is primarily a phone, something that people always bring with them, always connected via 3g.

The pspGO is wifi enabled, instant downgrade.

No it didn't cost them that much.... It didn't by logic you can't sell something that costs more to make then you sell it for because there is them selling to the stores selling to you... maybe it cost 400 at launch but realize they buy in bulk, from dedicated suppliers direct from the company.... on topic The go is just too much for any consumer in this economy to buy.

No, sorry, deathxxxshark is correct. All console manufacturers take an initial loss on hardware sales knowing they'll make it up through software sales. I've provided a link for further information.

I played it at E3 and its awesome. I'm getting one on launch day and for the record I hate carrying around a dozen UMD while traveling... ever drop a game on an airplane? ggrrr hate it. no more driving around playing to find a game or reserving a copy of grand tourismo... just buy/download from your couch, airport or cloest starbucks... i love it!!

no where near worth the price, they gave you a %15 smaller screen, made the controls even worse, no touch screen while it's collapsed, and no physical media, plus, they upped the price by $80. Horrible. It's got a bit of a cool factor going for it, but that's it.

Plus, you know it's going to be yesterday's garbage before you know it. Sony has now done this crap 3 straight years, bring out a brand new model PSP, and act like it's the next coming of god. Hell, there are already rumors of the true PSP 2 being ready by next E3, so I can't in good consious say the Go is worth it or that I will buy one.

If it had a 5 inch screen, a touchscreen, 2 thumbsticks and a 32 GB Hardrive, then yes, I would have bought one.

the thing about digital downloads is that once your finished with it, you cant return it can you? and what about the old umd games that some of us will have? will there be a way of proving you have the umd and then getting the digital download free? i doubt this would work because people could just buy a game download it then sell it again. the psp go looks good and i would wait for the price to go down but im not sure about how the whole digital download will work

I may get one. When it comes out probably not but maybe months down the line. I already have a PSP 2000 so I can just play my UMD games on that. The reasons I'm interested in the GO are:

1) I never bought an ipod anything so I don't have an MP3 player, thus the GO I will use for music.

2) Never took the 2000 with me anywhere because it was still bulky and was heavy in my pockets.

3) I hardly ever resort to buying used games and I don't trade in my games because I value them for what they are. Downloading games are generally cheaper as well and makes things more convient.

4) I only have a 1gig memory card on my 2000 and can't even download FFVII on it, thus the money I would have bought on a memory card will be put towards a GO.

5. I don't know anyone else that has a PSP so nobody shares games with me anyways. Having another PSP would let me do multi-player through gamesharing.

I am really hyped about the Psp Go! and plan on buying it. What makes me hesitate from purchasing it is the Price and Difference. The Price is just way to high, and I could just get the cheapest xbox 360 with no hard drive for 40$ cheaper. 249.99 is just so high, and I may wait till christmas for price cuts. Also, difference. I currectly own a 1000 and had not bought any games for a while since of the rumors about this Psp Go! . I got 7 titles for my Psp, 3 are current and the others are old titles. I just don't know if it will feel the same. If it will, I may just get a 8GB memory stick or 16G memory stick. I am so lost, and the look and 16GB hard drive, portability lure me in to buying it, but the Price is so high. I can afford it, but is it a waste of money? I need to wait for the reviews on the day it comes out so I can see what others think. Well for now, I am still in the middle of a purchase, or a pass. I have passed on 2 gen's of psp and I think this gen may be a upgrade me and other 1000 users have been wating for.

at $250 i wold rather save up another $50 and get a new PS3 Slim.

The PSP Go Is worthless. Smaller screne tighter controlls. i bet it would be extremely hard for somone to handle if they had bigger hands. yeah the PSP go can use a PS3 Controller but if you are going to use a PS3 controller with it might as well get a PSP3000 with a bigger screne and better controlls.

i bet the battery life is terrible on that thing to

I probably wouldn't buy one even it it were cheaper. I don't like the idea of download-only games. I'd like the option to buy retail or download, but not download-only. There's nothing in particular that stands out over previous models. There's no one defining "I must have it" feature.

It's pretty, I'll buy it. No UMD slot means less people decapitated by the flying UMD (JK). Seriously, as long as Sony delivers on the promise of being able to transfer purchased UMD's to the system I'll be first in line. Theoretically, for those of you that like to buy a physical piece of media (which includes myself) if Sony does let you get your UMD's in there it's a win/win. One thing aboot the PSP is when I go on a trip or something, bringing 20 movies/games is much more bothersome compared to the smaller size of it's competion's format. I'd love to have 16GB internal (and whatever the cap is for expandable) memory built in.

Don't compare the psp with the iPod Touch man, I have both and I saldomly play game on my iPod cuz they are all short, simple and pretty boring. Games on the iPod are just... well just minigames. I'd say: just buy the psp, it is worth the money. I never had any regrets of buying it and I still use it alot, especially on holidays.

For 100$ more I expect them to add more...It's not worth it for me to upgrade. Even if I didn't own a PSP I see no benefit of the Go! ... I'd rather just get the 3,000.

Someone tell them they're dreaming

I was seriously considering the PSP GO to compliment by PS3

Can I justify it at this price point? No

I honestly thought the news about PSP GO pricing was a hoax when I first heard it.

I will not purchase it now - have to either go with Nintendo DSi for games or I'm considering Apple iphone for an integrated device.

the PSP Go is gonna replace my iPod.

Here are my Pros and Cons.

PROS:

  1. Portability, it is finally small enough that i can just grab it and put it in my pants. it will be my only one of two electronics on me at all times (PSP Go and my Nokia Xpress Music cell)
  2. I'm not using my first PSP as solely for gaming. it'll be there for music, video, photos, and (depending on the pay system) the Digital Comics. I'm gonna need that space. in fact i intend on maxing out the space at 32 gigs when i get first get it.
  3. I own a DS, and i don't have a massive library of games for it. i don't intend on buying a ton of games for my PSP. when it comes to handhelds i am extremely picky about the games i want. i'm more lenient with the game for the console.

CONS:

  1. Price, that is the major negative against it. no doubt to get early adopters early on then rapidly lower the price and make it the new 'budget' PSP. of course Sony will tout the success of the PSP Minis, Digital Comics, and Digital Download service as the main engines that brough PSP Go to where it is now.
  2. Back Catalog is not there yet. So far all Sony has release on PSN from the library are the piss poor ports. i'm anxious to see the bigger PSP titles come to the PSN (i'm talking God of War, Metal Gear Ops and Acid, Ace Combat, Resistance, Crisis Core - you know the big titles).

despite the price of entry (just like it was for the PS3, remember? expensive, Blu-Ray hasn't proven itsself, no games, lossed exclusives, PSN is crap, Home is far off in the future and it may not ever come out).

Having 32 gigs. have all my music (just under a gig), read my Iron Man and future Batman comics, have a digital copy of Dark Knight put on the machine, have at the tip of my finger tips

  1. Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines
  2. Gran Turismo PSP
  3. Little Big Planet PSP
  4. PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe
  5. God of War: Chains of Olympus
  6. Resistance : Retribution
  7. Tetris (PSP Mini)
  8. Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception
  9. Final Fantasy 13 Agito
  10. Metal Gear Portable Ops
  11. Metal Gear Peace Walker
  12. Persona
  13. Final Fantasy 7 (PS one)
  14. Metal Gear Solid (PS one)

the games being tied to my PSN account for me to constantly be able to re-download. yeah... i don't mind...

plus i find the current PSP models too big and clunky. UMD's too big physically. I wanna be able to unconciously grab my PSP like i do with my Cellphone, iPod. without having to stop and think what games i wanna grab.

that's why it's called the PSP Go. you just picked it up and GO

I've never owned a PSP so I kinda had my hopes up for the PSP Go. What really killed me was the ridiculous price. I'm just gonna wait it out that way the price drops and there will be more games in the PSN store. I'm probably gonna get those hard-to-find games that I would play like Warriors Orochi 1 & 2.
