Firstly...i hate you.

anywho, i just got one and i was at work and we were having a discussion at why the psp games have completely dried up and its down to hackers. devs made some awesome games, sold a few thousand copies and everyone else just downloaded it for free, hence why there are no good games around anymore (resistance the example recently)

i know there are some awesome releases coming up, but hackers pretty much killed a huge developing community for the psp.

anyway, just my rant, anyone who ever illegally downloaded a game, burn in hell :)

I don't hate them but I don't support them either. I just hope that at some point they understand they are killing the gaming industry. I hope its not too late when they realize this.

The only way too stop hackers from killing a online is sony gives a code that can only be used 1 time for real people who buy the games and sony knows the codes they give out so hackers cant make fake ones

While it may be quite a time away its almost certain that the next gen consoles and handhelds Sony and Nintendo have suffered quite a bit and I doubt they'll let this situation escalate again.

PSX games are better than PSP games. It's sad but true.

In Asian countries people's minimum wage is around $100-200 a month. How would you expect them to buy a $50 game. Regardless of piracy, Sony is still actually making a lot of money by selling consoles to people who without piracy wouldn't be interested in buying a PSP or any other gaming system.

Just as xdeath6 mentions, even if they have kids, the kids don't need videogames to keep on living.

Well, knockoff consoles do originate in Asia so I'm pretty sure if they're desperate enough they'll get one.

[QUOTE="DoUFolksLikCofe"]I can understand about being pissed at hackers on the online games but beyond that we... they do little in the way of taking money from sony if i...they download a game it means that we... they don't plan on buying said game. We download it because its there and so easy to do. If it wasn't there its not like we would go out and buy a copy, we would assume that our ideas of the game are correct and would not buy. So really we're not stealing and money from sony. The problem lies in the fact that sony is trying so hard and spending so much, to stop something that cant be stopped. As long as there is a system there will be those that break the system. I currently have 14 psp games myself and only download the ones that refuse to be released in my area.... i mean their area....

your not taking sony from sony, no. your taking money from developers, the guys that keep the system alive.

Did you ever think that people put customfirmware aka "hack" their PSP for other reasons than to steal games? I personally did it for a number of reasons ranging from fun homebrew games to playing my all time favorite PSX games on the go THAT I OWN. The fact is that the people who do these hacks mostly frown upon illegally downloading games. They just provide a means for people to do more with their PSP than it normally allows. I have bought a number of PSP games and ripped them to my computer so i dont have to carry the clunky UMD's around. I don't support piracy but i do support custom firmware it allows many good things to come to the PSP community.

j_waterbunns

You're right , i wish if sony would allow homebrew legally on the psp , it lets you do alot of things, whit saying this i don't think they should allow game copying , jsut allow homebrew

I am also against piracy. But here in Asia when buying a PSP the unit will be automatically installed with CFW bundled with accessories, memory card and 5 downloaded games depending on the size of the memory.

This is why we prefer a hacked PSP

  • Games are easily downloaded at the net for free.
  • Downloaded games are cheap about $1/game. While, originals almost cost as much as PS3 games. I rather buy a PS3 game.
  • In some Asian countries games are limited and left hanging without support for both console and game developers.

I have a PS3 and have plenty of original games with it. In addition original games are an investment its not a waste of money. Moreover this PS3 thing has not yet exploited by hackers that is why its sales are slow compared to Xbox360's. In Asia PS3's are outsold by Xbox 360's bundled with 15 to 25 pirated games with it which makes it a great buy for penny pinchers.(a great help for console developer)

And please don't deprive the poor people on playing video games in anyway. Just because they can't afford for consoles and games then they should stop; and work instead to earn for a living. Every people has the right to be entertained in anyway and that includes gaming. If hackers did not exploit game machines then game piracy does not exist.

You just don't get it my friend. You're just lucky you weren't born in a 3rd world country. Some people don't have much options no matter how hard they work specially in Asia. What will you say to your kid if he wanted a system but you can't afford the games but can buy the console. I had a lot of friends back in my college days who were wowed brc. I had the PS1 and my cousins always want to come to my house to play video games on it. Video games aren't a luxury anymore it's the same as movies & music it's entertainment.

1. I wish we could install games, even with DRM, to our memory sticks - legally, of course. 2. There needs to be some way of detecting piracy (or mods) online. They should do this with the PSN (Store, Resistance Retribution) as well as make it so that we're signed in all the time, even when playing a single-player game. A check would also occur when signing in. If he/she gets by...begone!
