I bought the new silver psp slim b/c I had wanted a psp for a while to game on the go. I've been playing it on and off the past two weeks......I never imagined how much physicalpainplaying the psp could cause. I am 6'3" so naturally I have bighands with long fingers and that just doesn't work with the psp's flawed design. I can't believe I didn't hear of this before I purchased the psp. i honestly may have to sell it, my thumbs are aching in pain can't have that pain all the time...I've tried finding hand grips for the psp slim but no one sells them, I'm not just going to wait around a year for them to make something and let $200 collect dust...

who else has this problem.

sorry but not I.

the analog nub is in a rather bad spot, but i have never been driven to pain.

only time i felt pain from a handheld was metroid prime on the ds.

I agree with Glass...the PSP (the phat one anyways) is easy enough to play games on though the analog stick takes some getting used to...but Metroid Prime also hurts my hands as well, though its still a fun game.

you guys musthave small hands b/c I've been checking around and found out a lot of bigger people like me can't use the psp without it cramping their hands really bad. it's like I can't even concentrate on my game b/c I keep thinking about the pain in my thumbs and the damage it could be causing. oh well off to ebay I go.

i have relativly large hands for my size.

but maybe your holding the psp funny? i know i have to change my grip so its just right to hit the buttons. (more like im holding the system in my fingers rather than butting up against the palm of my hands)

Actually you can buy handgrips, I've seen them in a couple of places before. Have a look around Amazon, I'll post a link later if you still have trouble, just that I cant really look now.

I have big hands and I can admit that sometimes it feels uncomfortable but I never had any aches or pains. I bought a grip for the psp (I live in Japan, lots of psp goodies here) and I guess it helped but I still prefer to play it without a grip

I'm 6'2 so also have big hands, when I first played the PSP I thought it was extremely uncomfortable. After playing it for a while I got use to it, though it can make my thumb ache time to time it isn't really much to complain about now. I guess you'll just have to get use to it.

Wait until they come out with a slim case holder or grips,it might make it more comfortable.
Just hope you don't end up with arthritis of the thumb and fingers from playing the slim.
The phat PSP might be better off for you and those "large" hands of yours.....good luck!

was it for the slim or the original? b/cIalready trieda controller grip for the psp andthe slimdidn't fit it at all, the slim is a good cm longer than the psp fat by the way that fitted grip looked, wouldn't hold the psp in place so made it pointless.... Hopefully the accessories will start coming out for the slim b/c I really think a grip would help me out...if anyone knows of one already out for the slim please let meknow, thanks for everyone's input on this topic.

I was sore too when I got mine but after a couple weeks you will be fine. The ergo design could have been better though, I agree.

I also share your pain. I too have huge hands, but usually I find away around handhelds to have a comfy way for me to hold it. Usually I rest my psp a little high on both my middle fingers and they are bent so they hold it up and then keep my index finger ( i think thats what it is, otherwise its the main pointer finger) on the L and R buttons to they hit the top pad in front of the second knuckle. This may sound complicated, but for me, it is the comfortable solution. This way both of my thumbs aren't bent much. I will post a picture if I can get my camera to work.

Ok well im 6' 4" and I have a PSP and my hands and fingers have never started to hurt from playing it. Well actually they have but thats only when i play it for a very long time and my fingers and hands start to get tired and sore but the same things happen when i play PS2 for a really long time at one constant time.

I, and many others, had that problem even with the fat PSP. I also had that problem with the GBA (both models). Just get a case that expands the width of the system (from hand to hand) and that should alleviate some discomfort.

As far as grips, you'll probably have to wait until deeper into the holiday season for slim accessories. I know for the fat though, I just bought a PS2-like grip for 9 bucks at Burlington Coat Factory. I'm sure there is a solution for the slim online if you look.

hum! i'm 6'3" myself, and i don't have any troubles like you do, of course i do have a PSP Phat though, so maybe trade for an older PSP Phat system. also, on the hand-grips, EB Games or Gamestop would most likely have some or know where you might be able to find some, so don't give up on that. but i'd suggest a trade for the PSP Phat

If you go to Gamestop or somplace like that then they have cases for the PSP slims that make it even bigger then the older ones. so big hands or not it should fit great. my hands r pretty good size and with the case it fits perfectly

I'm 6'2" and it's not that small but I don't get hand pains. If anything, my fingers hurt from playing Guitar Hero, but the PSP never did anything to me.

How much or how long have you been gaming on consoles, because I remember a time back, way back, long ago, when I first started gaming it hurt my thumbs.

You've obviously never played with the original X-box controller or played an FPS on a DS.
