Hello all , I was wondering if anyone could lead me in the right direction here. I want to buy something thats mobile and for gaming but I would also like to play dvds and get on the internet every once in a while. Now I know a laptop computer and a psp can do both but with different options. With a laptop you can play games, get on the internet and play dvd movies if you have a dvd rom. With a psp you can do the same but if you want to play dvd movies they have to be those umd types. it seems like umds are kinda scarce , many stores dont carry many titles. i like the fact that if you buy dvds for your laptop at least you can use them on a regular dvd player at your home, with umds you cant do that. so my question is which is the best option. laptop or psp.

If it were my choice and my money, the laptop is the way to go, hands down. An easy choice really.

The short answer would be - get a laptop.

When watching movies on the psp I do not use umd movies mainly b/c it's almost less of a hassle to rip a dvd to my computer and then save it onto my psp. If you are not interested in going through that process then the laptop would be your best bet.

Also the internet on the psp is not comparable to how you view the internet on the computer. On the psp it is limited and slow. Although this works fine for viewing email, and perhaps blogs and such, it is not good for much else.

What would be better about getting a psp. Well its smaller, it will probably have a longer battery life then your laptop. You can keep it in your pocket, and it doesn't emit hot air like a laptop would. Also, you don'thave to install games onto it.

um what kind of laptop can you get for 200 bucks?  I imagine any such computer would be horrible for games though fine for dvds and internet.  You dont need to buy UMD movies you can buy a 4gb mem stick and transfer movies from your desktop.

If you want to buy a laptop equipped to play recent and upcoming games, be prepared to spend $2000+...

Laptop hands down. It is so muchbetter than the PSP, and u can actually play games the way they were ment (I am talking about every FPS on the PSP)to be played. Also, there are way more good computer games then there are PSP games at the moment.

Yeah man, for sure. You can get ones for like 700 canadian and up, but if you wanna do some serious gaming, you're gonna need to fork out alotta money. Upgrades are vital.
Depends on what you play though.

well psp can fit in your pocket.. has longer on the go battery life... psp is waaay cheaper, more durable games are ready to play quicker.. no installing needed, unless you are specifically useing the internet get a psp.. but I have both and always take both.. so it all depends on what you really want to do

I always liked gaming on my desktop computer because the desktop processors and GPU's are much better than mobile.

If i want to go mobile i take my psp. It's hard to lie down on your back in bed with your laptop lol

This is like asking "Do I want a Ford GT ($100,000) or a Ford Mustang ($30,000)? We are talking about a huge price difference and two completely different machines. Sure both are sports cars but it's what you want out of your machine.

It all comes down to price. $170 for a PSP or anywhere from $1800 to $2200 for a laptop for high end gaming. If you want casual gaming on a laptop you can settle for one about $1300 range, but expect to pay top dollar for a gaming laptop.

Since im going to college the laptop is the obvious choice, but if you stay at home and have a desktop, then a laptop is pointless and go for a PSP.

It's all about your situation, money, and what you want. Ultimately it is your decision.

It just depends on who you are. If you have a computer already just go with the PSP.

These aren't even comparable. 1500 dollars plus for a laptop, 200 bucks for a PSP. If you need to play in a small space a PSP probably fits your needs (as long as you download movies on your memory stick). If space isn't an issue then a laptop is going to be a lot better. If money is no issue then a laptop hands down.
