I am about to buy a new game system.

I can only buy 1 at this time. Should I get the PSP or PS3?

The PSP has many games and I like the quality of the graphics.

PS3 still does not have a lot of games and no greatest hits games yet.

 What do you guys think?

that is a pretty stupid question. if u have enough money get the PS3. it may not have many games yet, but there are some great games coming out for it, and its a lot better than the PSP. u can save videos and music and stuff on the PS3 just like the PSP

If you can afford the PS3, go with that one. It's got everything (except a digital tuner). You can pretty much replace your DVD player, stereo, and PC with it. The Sony ad line about it being the total home entertainment centre is pretty spot on. When you can afford it, then get a PSP- it can run wirelessly off the PS3 and you can use it as an add on for some PS3 games. It acts a rear vision mirror on the latest PS3 Formula 1 racing game, very cool.

That sounds awesome! Thanks for the info.

1 more question on the PSP, is it true that you can save your games to a memory stick?

If so, I can borrow games from friends and save to my memory stick and play anytime?

That is correct. Also helpful if you're stuck somewhere and have a friend who can get you past that bit.

As of now, i honestly gotta say the psp. Theres only 1 or 2 games worth your time so far, and the psp already has classics such as metal gear solid portable ops and tekken: dark ressurection.

It's on the Australian released version. Only out a few weeks ago. I don't have it personally, it's a friend that has it- he could be yanking my chain but I'll ask him......

u can't compare an actual console to a portable unit. But this is what i preder.

PS3 will go down in time (lets say 2 years max.), but the games aren't that cheap.

PSP is good for on the go and good games are very cheap.

imo the whole "Playstationism" thing that sony has been creating over the past few years, is definitley better suited towards the PSP. its got a decent chunk of memory, capable of alot of formats, its got some very, very portable freindly games, (Lumines, Loco-Roco) and you can take it anywhere. Its just well suited towards portables, its on the go, its sleek, it turns heads. Its a very fun system. plus you can get It, memory, all of its best games, and the accessories necessary, for about the price of a PS3. imo its a better purchase.

I'm leaning towards the PSP right now.

I think the PS3 will take another 12 months or so before there are enough game choices that I may like.

The PSP is a bargain right now for the price of the system and many inexpensive games.

I may just get the PSP now and wait out the PS3 til next year.

Neither has many good games right now, but the PS3 seems to have a better future in my eyes. So if  you have the money for a PS3 (I envy you :P ) I would get it.

I would get a ps3, as a psp owner i know alot of the games are short and do not last near as long as a console game. If i had the option i would get the ps3. It would pay off in the long run. It has alot of great stuff that the psp has plus more. They only advatange i can see the psp has over the ps3 is you can take the psp with you anywhere. But i dont travel myself alot so a ps3 would be way more benifital.

That is a very difficult question since one is a console and one is a portable.  Two very different style of games, game-play, controls and so on.  The PSP is a good system, I've owned it since launch and think it's a lot of fun.  I do wish there were more original content games but it is getting better.  This year the Obilivion dungeon crawler I think could be good, the Castlevanis SOTN looks good and Final Fantasy Tactics remake is the one I'm looking the most forward too.  I was going to get the PS3 on it's release but the games didn't impress me all that much.  And still I don't think are all that impressive, yet.  Will the games get better, without a doubt it's just going to take time.  The console will come down in price and possibly sooner then some think especially with the cancellation of the 20GB unit.  Sony will be able to cut manufacturing cost or should anyways.  The games will always be high for the next generation systems.  The $60 price tag is pretty much going to be the standard for games and in all honesty I see a day where games could cost as much as $100 per.  Unless the next one or two generations after this one make a switch to a more digital provider type of system.

Overall though, take a good look at the type of games you like to play and look the that game catalog of the PSP and the PS3.  Then look at the upcoming releases for both and see which has more of the types of games you like to play.  Then after you've made your choice and it has to be your choice enjoy your new system.

As already said: comparing a handheld to a console is a bit strange. If you want a gamesystem for you know gaming then you should get a ps3, although personally I'd wait till it becomes cheaper and has more games, it's kind of an xbox 360 year anyway, (sets up flameshield), but as I'm also buying myself a psp next month, get a psp first and keep an eye on which console you want to have. I think both in the long run is what you will want in the end, a handheld offers a totally different experience in the end. Playing games from the memorystick is called homebrew or downgrading and is illegal and not allowed to be discussed here. Google is your friend.

Get the psp.

If u get a psp u can get tons of great games now . If u get a ps3 u will be waiting for some good games. U can always get a ps3 later when theres more games 2 pick from.

It's really going to depend on your lifestyle.

When I lived in the US, the only time I really had to use it was at home....which raised the question of, "Why are you playing games on a portable when you have a tv here?" Basically, I was either in class (and I did a pretty good job of smooshing my classes together), driving a car somewhere, or at home. No real need for a portable with that.

However, now that I live elsewhere and have to take buses or walk to places, I find my PSP to be of more use. I often listen to music/podcasts, and during those 20 minute bus-rides, I can usually polish a bit off of a game. Plus I often have some downtime between my classes, so I can get a little gaming in then. Plus there are some...other uses I have for it.

So basically, if your life is like what mine used to be (either you're busy doing something, driving a car, or at home), then I'd have to say the PS3. But if you've got frequent downtime due to your school schedule/job, a PSP might not be such a bad decision.

If you can afford a PS3 you'd be better off buying a PSP AND another console, such as the 360 or the Wii. PS3 is currently over rated and over priced. You'd get much more use out of a 360 or a Wii than a PS3, and you'll have a PSP to boot!

Actually, I just sold my Wii because I thought the graphics was subpar. I was gonna apply those funds and some extra money into getting a PS3. But then I realized that there aren't too many game choices at this time. I saw a baseball game on the PSP at a local best buys and it was just amazing how detailed it was. This is when I started to think about just getting a PSP instead of the PS3.

I am still leaning toward a PSP at the moment.
