I would say that it probably isnt worth it because sony or any one else will charge a lot of money to repair it so you should just buy another one on ebay. My uncle managed to pick one up for 50 quid with five games and a movie. Also instead of spending more money to get another psp, why dont you just save the money to buy a newer psp model instead of the same one. The psp go looks very nice.

Try turning it on while it's charging with the battery out, if it turns on, then your battery is pretty much completely dead, if it won't turn on, then of course it's your PSP, you might just want to look into getting a new battery or system for Christmas.

You don't have to spend $250 for a PSP. Try more like around $75 at resale. Or if you want it new, $169.

Well then certainly don't spend heavy on it... a used one from a resale with some sort of limited warranty should get you through to the next generation. I've had my 2000 for quite awhile now, play it for hours every night when I get off work, and there has been nothing wrong. Just get a used 2000, or even a 3K. You have all the functionality of the Go, just not the spiffy new look.

A used one will see you through. Besides, how many UMD games do you own? Having an older version like you did, you probably have a few games on UMD, why would you want to convert to a new standard and have to re-purchase your favorites, at the very least?

I am purchasing some games electronically now with my 2000 rather than hunt down UMDs, but I wouldn't want to re-buy anything I already own.

You could also buy a 3000. It's much cheaper and if you want you can still do the download route. Sony is still officially supporting the 3000.

This happened to me. I freaked out, but it turns out that it was only the charger. Try purchasing a new charger or borrow one. Don't use a charger that looks like it isn't from Sony or doesn't look like a Sony design, because those don't work, trust me. ;D Or you could send it in for free for a repair instead of buying a new one.

BTW I've had a similar trouble I've successfully managed to resolve, - so it's probably related with a broken fuse in the circuit, I would suggest you to try asking around at psp-scene community sites and you will most likely be provided with some solid help on resolving the issue.

Well, if it isn't your charger, I'd just get a 3000. 3000s go for about $170 now.

At first I would try to find out what causes the fault and hopefully it's not serious(my guess that it's a little burned fuse marked as "TD" "FD" or "0" in the top-right of the mboard but initially it has to be checked with a tester) though probably it's a better idea to sell your console for spare parts "as-is" then add some cash and buy a working one or as a variant you can pick up either PSP's central motherboard or a unit with broken screen for approximately 45-50$ on the ebay and there is a also a possibility that you will manage to find it even more cheaply, - means that you can spent some to celebrate a little after the lucky repairing.

I've used my old 1000 charger to power up my 2000, but I don't really know if you should do that regularly. If you're buying a 3000 new, it'll come with it's own charger anyway.
