I'm looking to get a psp sometime this week, what I want to know is does anyone knoe hat firmware it coems with now if it is brand new? How can I find out by looking at the retail box? Thank You

Well I got mine a week ago and it came with FW 2.60.

its called a firmware update so yes they are the same thing

2.60 most of them. It usually takes 6 or so months after a firmware version is released for Sony to manufacture PSPs with that firmware on them. Right now the latest version is 3.11 which is uncrackable so far.
