While they were sleeping he escaped? Sorry but maybe i'm Psycho but while they were sleeping i would have made sure they weren't living anymore. I'm sure when he freed himself the door wasn't the only thing he can use, i'm sure there was a Knife or gun somewhere.

If you killed them in self defense yeah, BUT even though they tortured the guy I'm sure that revenge doesn't count for self defense if he killed them while they were sleeping. Killing them while they were sleeping would make him a murderer resulting in him being pwned.
... but yeah, totally feel sorry for the tortured guy.
