no, is not like the lcd screen is broken or something like that. I've seen this on mine is on the faceplat, when you tilt your psp on sunlight you can se a oily rainbow area around the edges of the screen. Also you can see it with sunglasses, it looks like it is where the screen got attatched to the faceplate with a black area on the edges. First time I saw it I was wearing sunglasses and thought that my psp had got burned by sunlightf but then I took them off and it was fine as always
That's a pretty weird thing though

thanks for the reply i thought that my PSP screen was already damaged when i had barley taken it out of the box.

oh by the way mine i only at the bottom and extends to about the middle.
Does anyone notice that it distorts the edge of the display a bit? As if there's a 3D effect on the edges. Mine is on the left edge only. Poor manufacturing from Sony, I must say. I prefered the one-piece faceplate of my PSP phat.
