one and all...i have a problem,

i have gone through google for help...and none of the solutions work for me.

vista won't install the psp...so i can't manage my psp nor use the pc version of the psn.
i have just changed computer from a xp laptop to a vista desktop.

solutions i have tried range from ammending a .inf file, copying the folder and searching that, using the windows search, manually looking whilst leaving somethings on the screen...etc...etc
basically, at the end of it, the closest i have come to getting it sorted is with the copying of the inf folder. however the pc won't install the drivers completly. so whilst they are found...i still can't get the computer to let me access my psp.

does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

You don't need PSP drivers. Just go to my computer and go to your PSP. Just drag and drop files into the corresponding folders. To get content from the Playstation Store, install the transfer program and just click on download on the store.

You don't install the psp, you just connect the usb cable to the psp and computer usb port. Turn on the pspand go to setting and go to usb mode. Your psp will connect to your computer and a box will show up picking up that your psp is connected to the psp. Drag and drop files like music and demos to the folders like for example put songs in music and demos in games.

The PSP just functions like a Flash key when you connect it to the PC. Vista should be able to just autodetect it when you put the PSP into USB mode.

which is how it used to work on my old computer. the point is that its not working.
i know i don't need psp drivers, but i need drivers for the computer ro access the memory stick via the psp (i don't have card readers)
if i could drag and drop i would.

any other thoughts?
it isn't a wide spread problem but the web does show some people with the issue

I had the same problem. Turn off the "charge through USB" option on your PSP. At least thats what "fixed" mine

Are you getting error messages either on Vista or the PSP? Does Vista even detect that a usb device has been plugged in?

It is a error the computers end.
the computer knows a usb device has been connceted. it just appears it doesn't know what device. psp type a is what it can't find drivers for. it is strange and frustrating...i want to try some of the psp psn stuf like beats

no it is not, im pretty sure its the usb cable, i was transferring a movie with my ps3 usb cabl and something messed up, pretty soon my vista could not recognize the psp, i spent like 30 mins searching for drivers and even restored my comp, then i read a post that said to used a thick usb, i did and wala, it think with the thin usb cables they cand handle much, try this and hopefully it works

i got it to work!
i uninstalled all the drivers for the psp (in device manager when the psp is connected, find psp type a and uninstall the drivers), then restarted the computer with the psp still with usb mode on.
when the pc restarted, the psp had connected to the computer however the computer still hunted for the psp...oh well.
at least now there's a way to get it to work.

hopefully it will help other people.

also, it's worth noting that once i did this. i didn't have to restart the computer everytime i wanted to connect the psp. somehow the psp and the pc now talk to each other fine.

why dont you just get a multi car reader for your computer, then you do not have to worry about drivers? I think i got my internal multi card reader for $10 3 years ago. well worth the purchase.

I have Vista and PSP and it works fine.

Why do you need drivers or whatever? What is the actual problem?

I just use it as a USB device (like a USB Stick) and I can Drag'n'Drop music and videos etc.

Good luck anyway.

Your PC probably didn't satisfy the minimum requirements. And considering that you went from XP Proto Vista Ultimate, that's definitely the case.Vista's actually pretty great. The only problems I've had with it were completely my fault.

Any problems with Vista are probably the machine's fault.

Sounds like you have a PEBKAC issue. Verry common on these boards; unfortunately not easily resolved.
