Suposedly PSP2 will have a major overhaul: 2 sticks, no UMD, sliding screen.

But it will still look like a PSP.

RIght now im pressed for money. I have $38 credit at Gamecrazy, which is basically ALL im spening on games this year (Yeah i know... Resisitace FOM or Rainbow 6???).The reason being because Im getting a very nice Blu-Ray 18.4 inch Sony Vaio this year, which shall pair nicely with my PS3.

I already have a PSP-1000, but if the next version is bsaically the same thing with 2 sticks and a sliding screen, is it worth getting, since its bcasically PSP 4000? It will be a major external upgrade, but the games would be... the same. Of course, the 2 sticks would help, a lot, but you cant expect anything huge like mini-Killzone 2. THAT would be what I would expect from PSP2.

Of course, this is all speculation, maybe this next version really is PSP2.

Assuming it isnt, then my question is: PSP2 or PSP 4000?

You could always resell the psp-1000 if ever the psp-4000 is said to be much much better, but the difference is only 1 stick and a sliding screen, it wont change your gameplay with the older released psp games because they all don't involve 2 sticks.

This is about the same as the issue of the DSi being or not being the DS' true sucessor. Both have significant improvements when compared to their predecessors, yet they are still too similar for most people to consider as different systems.

I would also point out that -in the case of Nintendo handheld videogame systems- such systems don't have really dramatic changes among models (with the GBA to DS transition being the most dramatic so far).

All of this is rumor, and old rumor at that. I doubt the sliding screen.
