Psp2? True? False?

I am hearing a lot of people mention something about a PSP2 that has double analog sticks or something. Does someone know for a fact if this is true, or is it just a bunch of rumors. If it is rumors, does anyone know hom they started. Also, if it is true, why dont they just call it PSP 4000?

I havent heard ANYTHING about that its just rumors as of now But so was the psp 3000 and half of what they said is true;)

There should be a couple/few years left before anext-gen Sony portable is released.

A few months ago I would have thought the rumors were true, but not now with all the new games that have been announced and the others that will be announced at E3.

I think that it is Somewhat truebut we'll Have to wait til they confirm it. But until then it's just a rumor.

We'll know more after E3. If anythinkg I would expect a PSP4000, based on the increasing rumor. If Sony release a UMD-driveless system at this point, they would destroy all their momentum, since most who own a PSP would keep thier old system to play old games.

Id say its true, sony arent denying it they are just saying "Not Confimed" also dont forget PSP's been on the market since 04 injapan so 5 years soon and that is quite a bit of time between gaps so it wont be all that of a suprise.

The PSP 2 isa rumor. I mean there has been speculation and stuff but as of now it is not confirmed at all. Now we might find out E3. Knowing Sony though they will most likely annouce a new model and if they annouce the PSP 2 and it doesn't support UMD then their stupid. (I mean this year there is so much new games along with future ones that will be UMD. Why release all of that and take the UMD Drive out?)

they never stated any new games would be on umd :P i mean look at patapon 2 its a voucher to download off psn in a plastic umd case. and even if they are umd less games old psps can still download them as its not psp2 but psp 4000 model :)

no UMD drive is stupid already. Plus, the pic looks fake imo

i think the rumors are true, but release date is not going to be this year for sure. it will still be in development and will be released in 2010. that would make more sense. they will reveal it at e3, but make the release date for 2010.

The UMD is the only thing holding the PSP back. A UMD can only take 1.9GB of data and all great PSP games are at the limit so by getting rid of it they would be able to make far bigger and better PSP games!!_F_F_7_

I don't understand why so many gamers believe more memory automatically translates into better games. 1.8GB is already a LOT of memory. The majority of games don't even use up half the memory available, especially the PS1 ports. Yes, more memory means more space for graphics, FMVs and such, (ex. FFVII on PS's CDs vs. Nintendo's cartiges) but gaming history has proven that memory size is only a small factor in the design of great video games (ex. Zelda:OoT on N64's cartiges).

Of course the image isnt real its just an image so you know what there speaking about, but id want it to be a whole new PSP and which games are geniuine to the PSP "GO" by that I mean id rather see it gain 3-4x the originals power, and build better games for it, I dont know why everyone wants an old console to keep going, its always like this and Personally NEVER be suprised about seeing another console within 5-6 years from the previous thats how its been and thats how it will always be, sure The ps3 has a 10 year life span but sony will launch another console around the 6th and just sell the Ps3 as a budget system its how it is now with the PS2, so personally I hope its a whole new system im not too stingy to fork out 400au if the things good.

The rumours already stated that there will be sometype of umd reader at game stores which can be used to transfer your UMD"s data onto your PSP 'Go's' flash memory or the MS pro duo in it.

I think that if sony will not release/announce any PSP2 or hightly advanced generations, other companies will start working with portable consoles and psp will become just like gameboy, sega nowadays

no way sony would be dumb enough to switch to a new system with no backwards compatibility this soon. They just released the psp 3000 less than a year ago. Now they are going to strand all those users and say oh sorry but 'X' game is only available through digital download for the pspgo! you'll have to upgrade even though your system is only a year old. If this is true i'm done with sony. Con millions into buying psp3000 in the last year just to strand them? I doubt its true but if it is then i guess i'll just go get myself an iphone with cheaper games, better internet, and the ability to be a phone.RiggsSR9
