I don't know too much about it but I'm hoping the PSP2 can play PSP games.

I hope so. Also I hope it can play PSP1 UMDs not just digital downloads. And when you play the PSP1 games on it, you can have the option to increase texture quality and put at least 4 times Anti Alias! That would be super awesome! (look at PSOne Emulators for the PC, it looks better than a lot of PSP 3d games IMO)
Dual analog sticks and a larger HD screen sound great! I really hope it doesent have a touch screen though, or that it will be something optional for use in games. One thing that it must have is backwards compability with UMDs. I also hope it will use an updated UMD format (BluRay-UMDs?).

Never saw that rumor except that the screen is another inch bigger. I don't think that's near the Ipad's screen size.
If the picture of the PsP2 is true then wow looks nice, however i dont want a touch screen or touch pad or whatever, if i wanted one i would use my ipod touch to play touch games.
Sounds good but if it's suppost to be a mobile phone also i think a 5" screen will be too big to be your everyday mobile phone lol,or maybe it just supports loudspeaker calls,holding a 5" screen next to your ear is just dumb... Anyway like people have said two analogue sticks please and the ability to play ps2 games will be sweet,like how the psp emulates ps1 games... Sony have said it wont be digital distrubution only like the psp go which is good,they are obviously going to evolve the umd somehow so i'm guessing they will create a blu-umd or blu-md :P with 5x more storage than umd,like blu-ray is to dvd's,umd is based on dvd technology but just smaller,so putting a blu-ray lens in the psp2 with the same size umd should give it a capacity of 5gb a layer with a 2 layer blu-md maxing out at 10gb,slightly more than a dvd...
Yes this is very ood news. It depicts dual analog sticks, a wider, sharper screen, and touch pad on the back which i think is better than having it on the front because it would lessen resolution and sharpness. It love my Go but I wouldnt mind it a little bigger if its still smaller and thinner than the 3000

that didnt really work with the psp did it? we all know the 3ds will take over from the ds and in doing so it will be a massive success, i just think sony shot themselves in the foot by not coming out before the 3ds with something amazing (maybe psp phone will be good but i doubt it)
Well supposedly their having trouble with overheating issues, i doubt they wanna bring it out when it has hardware problems. Nintendo hasnt won it yet the 3DS is still gonna be roughly $250, we shall see how consumers respond to the price.
yes but we all know sony are going to put some impressive tech into the new psp which will make it as expensive if not more so than the 3ds (unless they are smart and take the opposite route which lets face it isnt going to happen), also sony probably started working on psp2 the second they finished psp1 so you would think that they would have a massive issue such as overheating under control, i dont know just seems like they are making the same mistakes all over again (bit early to tell mind you)

Not if Nintendo launches the 3DS at a price point that people arent willing to pay. That would open the door for Sony to potentially take the market if the PSP2 is much cheaper. I know thats not likely to happen but it could.

That's impossible, you can't have a release without hype. Anticipation is what make the device sell on opening day, and if they just suddenly launch it, then there's no time for people to think about their purchase. People will stick with a device they trust, or at least know what to expect. Sony needs to wait until they're ready to launch the PSP2, and as long as the PSP is still making them enough money, they won't deter attention with a new system.
Hopefully they ditch optical media completely. And I really doubt we'll see 4 shoulder buttons. The thing would have to be ungodly thick to pull that off.

only way to out due the earlier released 3ds is to greatly out due it with spec. 360 got a huge lead b/c they came out a few months b4 PS3. And cheaper.
I have doubts the PSP2 will be up to par with 360/PS3, but a HD screen and something above 1ghz speed should be amazing.
I don't thinkSony understand the handheld space. Ithink they need to change their strategy around a bit. They need to understand that the same laws don't apply for both the home console market and handheld market. Oh well, we'll see how it goes.
PSP2 better not be like the GO. I don't want it to be all digital I like going to the stores and looking at games and deciding what I want. I hope they either keep the umd or get some other disc to replace it. Second analog nub also but I think thats a given already.
