Through last week the 3DS was listed at $999.99. This is a place holder people. This is because there is no finalized price and you never want to tell customers the price will be lower than the actual price.
This way Gamestop doesn't piss off a customer if say they had perorders listed at $250 and the real price ends up being $400.

This isn't even an estimate. This is a placeholder. This is so they can safely take preorders and the price not be higher than what they are telling their customers.

Well if you go through the thought process of a consumer when buying this or the 3ds they will think... 50$ more for better graphics and two analog sticks vs. a 3d effect and one analog stick, the NGP will be more appealing. However it wouldn't surprise me if the 3g model is 350$ because that has a very unique extra feature that will have a clear cut advantage over the 3ds, and can possibly justify a higher price. Though in general I think that the NGP might win the handheld race. The 3ds is too early in the year, the NGP will have significant holiday sales, that the 3ds may lack.
I facepalm for people who believe this and are too stupid to see it's just a price higher than the original price. They do this so they get a lot of pre-orders and be first and sell a lot. Price has yet to be determined....
