Noticed this news article on Gizmodo talking about some serious flaws with the new screen. Looks like another mark on Sony's failings.

wow thats worse than i expected. I sure hope not all games look that bad. not that i was considering buying another PSP anyways. My psp-2000 works just fine.
ok wait so the psp 3000 comes with a brighterscreen, lower battery power, and a useless microphone. Well lets take the brighter screen away because it sucks aparently. So what we get from the psp 3000 is lower battery power and a useless microphone.

Do you ever update yourself? The battery power is the same, they fixed that problem. I use the mic alot, actually, and the screen is still gorgeous (scan lines or not). You also have to consider the matte finish.
Honestly people, it's not that bad. I have a Psp 3000 and it is barely noticeable and I wouldn't have noticed until I read that thread (thanks alot...). You will only find the problem if you look for it and it will barely bug you unless for some weird reason it does. The rest of the qualities really outdo the ONLY problem with the system and should be overlooked. People shouldn't freak out over something so minor. Just to compare, whenever you see scanlines it's just like it would be on a tv (old tv?) and does NOT render a game unplayable unless your blind and hold the screen up to your face

I have the PSP 3001 and I can't see not one flaw in the screen or for that matter on the whole system. Maybe I am going blind, but everything even my pictures look awesome. ;)MrBz1
Okay, good, do not look up this interlacing thing because when you do it will bug you then. Don't worry because if you don't notice anything wrong with it then you are good.

I did'nt have to look up interlacing, I already know what it is. I telling you my PSP 3001 does not show it like other people are talking about. ;)

So true, they act like it's a hideous disturbance in the force.

I honestly cant imagine the N64 being playable with those huge framerate issuespsp 3000 hasnt come out in australia yet... but i dont plan on getting it any time soon or even ever getting it. my psp 2002 is *cough* custom *cough* modded and i have gba and n64 emulators on it, and heaps of dled games.

So this is how it is. If you still have the 1000 model, it is worth the upgrade to the 3000, but if you have the 2000 model then the upgrade is pointless. I'll be getting a 3000 because I had a 1000 and it's broken.ta11on
yeah, that sounds about right.
