For the sake of my sanity and their reputation, they need to lower the price of those. It is one of those items that pretty everyone knows they are making an absurd margin on. 32G for $100 is laughable. You can get a 32G Micro DS card for $20.

I just bought a 32GB Extreme Pro Sandisk for my camera which costed $93. That was the best price that I could find (I'm in Canada). I have no idea how the speed of that memory card compares with the speed of the Vita cards so I don't know if the value is comparable but to say that they should only be $20 is questionable.

Probably officially announce a US/Europe Price drop, on the 20th, hopefully along with the rumored memory card drop. Also it's worth noting that Japan is getting a bundle that contains a 3G/Wifi Vita, and a 32GB Memory card for 250$. If it came here it could really help sales.

Yeah the memory seems to have been of one of the largest price gripes. Did they really expect to push a DD route as feasible with prohibitively priced propriety memory?

It's a shame because the PSN store actually has pretty robust support. After playing some PS1/PSP games on the Vita it just seems strange to go back to having to swap out cards. I am sure what Sony will lose in memory-card prices it will make up in increased digital uptake.

Hey fancy running into you here. :P They do need to address the memory issue though. After that some publishers need to re-adjust some prices. Soulcalibur BD was $40 still until not long ago I hear, that's just plain ridiculous and not very helpful when you're trying to get people to bite on your limited backwards compatibility, let alone help cultivate DD adoption trends.

I feel kind of dumb. It has been more  than a year since the PS Vita launched and I have not played it as much as I should. Now it's dropping in price haha.

That should help the PSvita in Japan. The price of the PSvita is fair and worth it. Sony should reduce the price of PSvita memory cards to match SD cards. 32GB should cost the same as it does on a regular SD card not $100.00

Then Sony PSvita will do better here in North America. Japan is the regional king of handheld gaming So a price cut to the system will help the Vita in Japan. Or Sony could just include a 4GB memory card with every PSvita sold. Keep the price at 249.99 and just add a memory card. PSvita price drop to $215 in Japan will help.

Absolutely, which is only $21 for a comparable Micro SD card. Link to Amazon. The margin on their memory cards is asinine and is not fooling anyone.

i think i can say, along with pretty much everyone else, that i am completely shocked and disgusted by sony giving japan a price cut and then saying nobody else is getting one. i was all excited for the VITA knowing that this price cut would probably begin a new era of popularity for the handheld..... but now i pretty much have no hope for the VITA catching on, and fully expect it to be abandoned by developers by next year. its a complete disgrace, and clear now that sony does not give one **** about the VITA.

you sir, indeed deserve your 10000000 gamespot dollars. here you go.

Whether you like to believe it or not, the exchange rate is the main reason. It's like the Aussies that end up paying $300+ ... not to mention various other regions. We get the occasional deals from Amazon, doesn't happen everywhere else unless you're buying it 2nd hand.

lowering the price because of the exchange rate makes absolutely no sense at all. if you lower the Yen price... that means the dollar price drops as well... because the dollar value follows the yen value at a certain rate. so if the vita WAS 25000 yen or whatever and that was 250 dollars....now it is 19000 yen and that is 200 dollars. the price is the price. if they can sell it for 19000 yen in japan, they can sell it for 200 dollars in the USA. they still get 19000 yen in japan, because the exchange rate is a direct conversion based on whatever the rate is at the time.

if i take 200 dollars and fly over to japan right now, and go to a bank and get it converted to yen, i would be able to buy a vita for 19000 yen right then and there. however if i go to the store with 200 dollars here in the USA, i will not be able to buy a vita because they cost 250 dollars. it doesnt matter how strong or weak your currency is because the exchange rate takes that into consideration.

the reason it costs so much in AUS is probably because your government taxes the **** out of imports, and it probably costs more to ship it there as well. its not because of exchange rates. however, you guys do get a bum deal with most consoles, and it really amounts to nothing more than regional price gouging.

what Sony needs to realize is, the USA and EU buy a HEEEEELL of a lot more consoles and software than japan does. not lowering the price in those regions is a horrible mistake. all it does is create even more bad blood over a handheld that already does not have a good reputation.

Not exactly a full on price-cut but I think some people would appreciate this information: http://uk.ign.com/articles/2013/03/12/3g-vita-price-cut-in-certain-sony-stores

sony has confirmed no price drop for us eu ,    they are set by region to region basis ,    out of luck out side sales stores have,  there is no permanent price cut just yet
