I finally opened up the game after getting it for Christmas. Not too far into it so can't say if I love it quite yet. Hopefully it gets better. My question is that there are enemies that throw firebombs at me and I always light on fire. Is there anyway to block the bombs or do I just move out of the way?

If you started with a shield that isn't made of wood you should be able to just block it. Or just move, either way.

By the way, it really takes a good 8 hours or so until you really get into the game. The learning curve is steep.

I'm a knight so I have whichever shield comes with him and I'm pretty sure it isn't wooden. Maybe I just really suck at blocking? :P

That shield is good, I guess you don't have enough flame resistance yet. You're just going to have to move out of the way.

Best game of the year for sure. Get good or die, there's no holding hands in this game.

Shields don't necessarily absorb all the damage, even if you block. In fact, only the Large Brushwood Shield offers 100% protection against fire. Just dodge the firebombs, it takes them forever to throw that stuff anyway, don't know how anyone could get hit by that in a 1v1 situation.

Shield not keeping you from being on fire? Here's my suggestion.

Step 1: Take off your armour. It's slowing you down. Don't wear anything heavy ever. You can really feel the difference.

Step 2: Move towards the fire bomb throwing enemy until he starts to telegraph his attack.

Step 3: Hit the dodge button or roll back so the bombs hits the ground harmlessly.

Step 4: Get in close and make your enemy dead.

The lesson here is master the technique of rolling. It saves your life. Much more than armour does.
