Hi

I just surf the internet i saw some people sell an expensive HDMI cable and the cheap one

And yeah i bought my ps3 and the HDMI cable from Indonesia as im an Indonesian. I bought the HDMI cable about 10-12 AUD if i convert it.

I think its a china product because its kinda cheap.. But my PS3 still can play 1080p at the XMB but it change to 720P when the game starts.

My question is. Is there any difference between using the cheap one with the expensive one? I read about gold plated bla bla and 10gbps(if i remember)

what is the good specification of the HDMI cable for the PS3?

Thanks in advance

From what i've heard any hdmi cable should do the job. Some of them are extremely overpriced.

Btw the XMB being in 1080p while the game playing in 720p is probably due to the game only supporting 720p diplay.

Stick to cheap ones. Look on the back of the video game box and it will tell you if it supports 1080p. A lot of games don't.

Don't worry, most games are only 720p. Also, ignore any specs when buying a HDMI cable, the most important thing is to buy the correct length. Otherwise, any cable will do.

All the bull they feed you about gold tips is just that, BULL. Information designed to take your money and thats it. I've got gold tips and they are exactly the same as my other cable (with silver ends). Most games are 720p like the guys have said, so that's what i use with my television even though i can get 1080i and 1080p, 720p suits me down to the ground, also just buy a nice long one, it means you wont have to worry about having the TV and PS3 close together..

;)

If you pay over $10, you're paying too much.

Any HDMI cable will do. I still don't understand the overpricing of HDMI cable myself. But I guess they do it because they know some fool out there will be thinking that they'll be getting top of the line quality even though they all look and do the same exact thing.

any hdmi cable will do, but i found that some cheaper ones have a tendency to have looser connections and therefore might cut out (i had a cheap one initially and the video would randomly cut out and i'd have to press on the back of the cord)

I was in a store the other day, no lie i tell you the truth, i see a HDMI cable for £29.99, i literally shouted out in the shop, "WHAT A F**KING RIP OFF" and continued walking. What they expect you to pay these days is unreal, specially when its just to connect one thing to another for HD, like the other guy said, paying over $10/ or £10 is way 2 much. Maybe $15 at a push but there is cheaper than that out there.. don't be fooled!

HDMI is a digital connection so the quality will be the same for all HDMI cords. I should also mention the ps3 supports upto HDMI 1.3a so buying a new HDMI 1.4 cord won't improve quality (should still work though). Honestly trying to find any HDMI cable outside of 1.3 is pretty difficult. Basically the only reason to buy a higher priced cable is durability which in many cases price doesn't make a cable more durable.

I had a cheap one then upgraded to $250 monster cable. As far as gaming goes I don't think it

made much difference, however I do feel that it improved the blu ray playback.

$250 for one HDMI cable... WTF?!?!?!?!?!?!? You can look on newegg.com... they have just about any length you'd need.

As long as it's HDMI 1.3 and it's under 4 or 5 meters, you'll be good with a cheap one ($1-$5) . If you want 3D support in the future, you'll have to get 1.4, and if you want a cable longer than 5 meters, you should get a more expensive one.

I bought that cable back when the con was in full swing and everyone was saying that they

made a major difference. Like I said I thought it made some difference, but the change probably

just coincided with a firmware release lol!

You really have to buy an HDMI cable online, though. Every brick-and-mortar store I've ever been in that sells them alway start at about $40 for a 3' cord. Ridiculous.

Which brings me to a related note... Why the **** won't the ps3 simply scale the game to 1080p like the 360 already does, and has done for a few years now?

I will cheerfully disagree. Unfortunately my OCD picks up on the slightest defects in picture quality, its a sickness. I will grind my teeth if Im watching another persons TV and the contrast is low, or brightness too high....I intervene at the first moment and "do them a favor" to there settings.

That said, I have a difficult time seeing a difference between 720p and 1080p sometimes
