im thinking about buying oblivion for my ps3 and i have to choices:

there is the regular used game which is like 27 or 28 bucks. then there is the "game of the year" edition which is 60 and includes the expansion packs.

so all im really asking is, are the expansion packs worth the extra money? or is the game just as great as itself?

Apparently there's some bugs in the one without the expansion. But I read some users on Gamestop saying they'd prefer the one without the expansion because there were more bugs in the GOTY version.

I had bought the one without the expansion recently and even though I'm a fan of medieval realms, this game is really hard for me to keep my interests running..

I got it for 30 bucks used (not goty edition) and to be honest, it hasn't peaked my interest. It is good, I mean I played through AC, Uncharted and COD4 (now playing online) and super mario galaxy, so maybe I just haven't got the courage to really sink my teeth into it.

It is a time consuming game, without much of a direction or plot. Still very immersive and detailed. Don't get goty edition is all I'm saying, you may not be able to get through the normal version.

I would go for the cheaper version unless you're a hardcore fan.

I only suggest you to buy the game with the expansions if you are a fan of elder scroll..

i hame a huge rpg fan, but the game never totally excited me, it goes a bit slow at times, but people fan of total customization and freedom to do whatver should like it, if you're into that then get the expansion packs. personally i think i made a good choice getting the cheaper version. IMO, the game is good, but can only acheive greatness if you really digg it, which i didn't...

The non-GOTY edition comes with the first expansion. The GOTY comes with both. The second expansion can be bought standalone (both on disk and on the PSN). End result is, if you can get the non-GOTY for under 30 bucks, you come out cheaper. If you enjoy the game, and the first expansion, then just spend 30 to get the Shivering Isles pack, and you've still spent less than the 60 for the GOTY. If you decide you don't like it, then don't worry about getting SI, and you're only out 30 instead of 60.
