Question about Playstation 3d Display

So I think I am going to order the Playstation 3D display, but I have a quick question about it. If I have a 3D movie downloaded to my laptop and connected it to the display via hdmi connection, would the movie be displayed in 3D or does the display not support that? Thank you.

Everytime I tried that with mine it just showed two vertical Images of the movie soooo no, for me anyways.
