I just bought my very first PS4. After the set up (and system update), it says that I have 408 GB of storage, although there aren't any games installed. Is this normal, because it is supposed to have a total of 500 GB storage?
Normal. First of all, hard drives never have as much as advertised. A 500GB drive probably comes with ~480GB. Then a big chunk is used for the OS. Sorry :-(
It's 1.77. I buy way too many games and going to need to go to a 3 or 4TB soon. I recommend getting at least a 2TB even if you don't think you'll be playing a lot of games at once. I buy all digital games so I'm not waiting a day to re-install something. Some games are well over 50GB so think about 4 years from now, how many games you will have in your collection.
@theninjaguydon: In four years I'll probably have way too many. It would be great if Sony would update the PS4 to support external hardrives, so I could plug a hard drive in like every usb port.
