It only shows you the information. Or at least, It didn't have the album art for what i was ripping. Before you rip it, some disclaimer will come upasking you to use thier online service for getting info about your CD. If you accept and wait a few seconds, it'll pop right up.

no dvds unless you put linux on your ps3 and get some software for it of course. but yeah, deffinantly no art work :( i ripped a comeback kid and acacia strain CD to mine and nother came up except the album info. that would be a cool add though, and also play music durin games, that would be tight.

How do you rip cds? I can't seem to find the option when i put my cds in. Sorry if it's dumb question, but I just got my PS3 and the manual is pretty flimsy

Use the triangle button and select "Import" from Music when your CD is highlighted.

Before you rip your CD though, you'll want to configure the settings for which you rip the audio. Settings --> Music SettingsĀ

Unless you're a real audiophile, anything above 192kbps for an mp3 seems like an over-kill, in my opinion.

Most likely, your CDs will not display album art, but you can add your own. Just find the picture (Google Images is fastest), save it, and when you're ready to add it to your music, just highlight the album you ripped, hit the Triangle button, go to Information, and press X to edit the cover art.Ā

no you can RIP them. RIPPING is the opposite of BURING, instead of throwing data from your hard drive to a disc, your taking the data from the disc and saving it on the hdd.

also, no you can't rip dvd's on the ps3.Ā

Yeah did this with like 20 CD's then I put my memory card from the phone into the PS3 and put the music on there. Voila music on the phone (for certain reasons I don't want to put all the software on the computer) it took me like 1-2 hrs to copy all the music. First I forgot to grap the info though, but once I did it was real slick

you can't rip a movie dvd, but, if you burn the movies to your pc's hard drive using either a torrent site or something like handbrake and then copy them to a dvd disc as a data file, you can rip them to your ps3. make sure to save them as mpeg1 and not wmv(not sure about others but mine has issues reading those files).
