Hey guys/gals, Just wanted to know if the 40gb ps3's break down often. How is the failure rate on those compared to the 60gb's that I hear are breaking down a lot now. I will be purchasing the slim or 40gb, the slim is $100 more though. So, I just wanted to know. So, answer the poll and help a ps3 brother out!

I only had one problem with my 40Gb ps3 and it's not that big of a deal, it froze on me a few times playing uncharted 1 after an update but it's fine now.

Had it for almost 2 years and still working fine, also still better deal then the xbox 360 AC.

Edit: I'd also like to say that getting the slim might be a better ideal. check to see if it comes with any games.

The only issue I have with my 40 GB (1.5 years old) is that it freezes on Civ Rev every now and then. If I were you, though, I'd get the PS3 Slim, only b/c it's a newer version. Maybe that's not important to you..but it's something that you should consider.

40GB. My friend has owned a launch one, not a since problem at all.

I personally own a 60GB, though.
