Nope. How would you connect it since it's built in to the laptop

Can't speak to the PS3, but I can to the laptop. Bluetooth works with services - you must have the appropriate Bluetooth services to do things with Bluetooth (examples: OBEX File Exchange, file transfer, fax service, etc).

There is no Bluetooth service for Keyboard passthrough, as far as I know. I suggest you call your laptop vendor and ask them about what Bluetooth services your Bluetooth chipset supports.

i wasn't aware that laptops use bluetooth keyboards built-in. Doesn't sound accurate to me.

they don't use bluetooth keyboards, but I have a bluetooth device in the laptop

all I need is an application that listens to the keyboard and sends the data with the bluetooth when a key is pressed

The laptop keyboard isn't a bluetooth device hence it cannot send anything.

The PS3 cannot be connected to a keyboard sitting inside a laptop without: (1) a supported, working Bluetooth service on the laptop to intiate the keyboard connection to the ps3, (2) a supported, working Bluetooth service on the PS3 that would receive input from a bluetooth input device.

The laptop with the appropriate Bluetooth service would have to be broadcasting the keybaord service and the PS3 would have to know about the laptop (be paired with it) before what you want to do would work.

To clarify: the keyboard in your laptop is NOT a bluetooth device. It is connected to the laptop via an internal cable and is not tied into the Bluetooth chipset & radio in any way. If you have a Broadcom chipset in your laptop (most do - see Device Manager) then you are SOL - I have tried looking for the answer and never found it.

I know you can buy seperate Bluetooth keyboards (NOT wirless keyboards that also have Bluetooth)- check out: http://blackberrycool.com/2005/06/01/00494/

If you figure it out, let us know how you did it...

Just buy a compatible keyboard for the PS3, it's not that expensive .. if you can figure out a way to use your laptop's keyboard, then you might as well post it here. Might help a ton of people.

Suggestion - save yourself some frustration and purchase yourself an el cheapo USB keyboard - I can get em in Canada for $10 each...plus whatever it costs for the USB extension.

Alternative - I have a 360 and am usinga Logitech cordless keyboard with my 360 - works flawlessly. This should also work with PS3.

Also...I like the above link. That really cleared things up for me! :)
