I'll be starting my university life in less then a month and I have no intention of quitting gaming. My question is: how often do you guys get to play your ps3? Is it easy for you to squeeze in about 2 hours every day?

It really just depends on what type of classes you are taking, how much you plan on studying, hang out with friends, and whatnot. I spend a good amount of time playing my PS3 and still have really good grades. I'm majoring in Biology/Pre-med. I probably wouldn't recommend doing that if you are doing Pre-med but for me at least, I really don't spend that much time studying because everything just comes easily for me I guess.

Yeah uptill now, I've been getting really good grades in school without much hardwork but I've heard that in college you have to work thrice as hard. I'll be taking Engineering classes btw

I'm from Canada and I'm just finishing my internship for my engineering degree. I'm going back in September to finish my final year of Civil Engineering.

I'll be straight up and honest with you, if you're in Engineering you won't be gaming 2 hours a night UNLESS you don't have any friends. You'll probabley have about 6 courses per semester in first year (which doesn't leave a lot of extra time in general) and then you'll want to hang out with friends and party/have a few drinks every now and then (cause you're in college/uni), so that doesn't leave a lot of time for extra stuff. Plus, if you have a significant other, (ie. a girlfriend) I'm sure that takes a little of your time as well.

All in all though, don't let my answer scare you, I've been gaming the entire way through uni, it just so happens that I sometimes have to do a majority of gaming on weekends and sometimes don't have enough time to keep up with all the new releases. The positive side to that was, this past year was my internship year and I was working for the entire time, that allowed me to catch up on a bunch of games I didn't get to play before.

I think you should worry less about gaming time and more about spending time with buddies. Uni/College is an amazing time if you take the time to make it what you want it to be. Gaming will always be there and will always be getting better, so don't feel like you're missing anything. You'll have time to catch up later, but if you miss uni/college experiences you won't get those back.

Just my two cents! Thanks for reading.

I had more time to play games in college than I did in high school. College was a breeze compared to high school.

I don't think you can do college wrong. I just found the college lifestyle and course load to be easier than high school. That was just my personal experience with college.

I'm about to go into my third year of civil engineering in September. I still play games regularly. 2nd year made me change from playing everday to every other day. I'm probably going to limit it to only weekends for this year but with games like Black Ops, Gran Turismo 5, and Fallout New Vegas coming out I'll be suprised if I can pull it off until winter break :P

Trust me alot of people in college play video games. You can always stay up really late if you don't have time during the day which is what I used to do with CoD4 since most of my friends got online pretty late anyways.

When I was in college (freshman year in particular), gaming was a big part of the dorm life. There was only a few guys with systems, but it was pretty awesome because we'd usually have 8-10 people in the room, passing around the controller. Was a really good social event if you do it right!

For me it depends on what classes I am taking. There were some semesters where I spent a lot of time gaming and then there were other semesters where I would wouldn't be able to touch my PS3 for long periods of time. Here's to hoping this upcoming semester I won't be buried in mountains of books.

i just graduated in may with my bachelors in finance, i would say you get a lot more time to game because u really have no chores living in the dorms and NO parents nagging you about gaming... but sometimes the girls will haha. just make sure to keep your grades up, and if you don't really know anyone at the uni you are going to, maybe join a frat?? i lived in a few different ones( but never joined em) and there were tons of guys that game in there, plus you usually will meet a few with the same major as you that u can study with/bum answers off of haha.

I can easily get at least 3 hours of gaming everyday with college around. All about managing your time really.

Well, my first yearI only went on at weekends for no more than 2 hours a day, so 4 hours every weekend. Im about to start my second year where I'll be doing my A2 courses so I doubt my gaming schedule will change.

dont worry about it. so i dont know how busy ou will be, but always ut your studies infront of your gaming. game only when you are sure yo have freetime, without taking time out of our nessecary studies. if that means leaving you ps3 for quite some time to finish your work, then so be it. dont worry i am sure you will find time to game, but remember not to make it too improtant in your uni life. and btw, you will probably get a lot off time to play on weekends and in the summer break when you are off.

and dont worry too much about answers coming from this thread, you will get your chance to game for sure.

yeah, I am going into my Sophmore year in a couple weeks, and honestly, it wasn't hard at all for me to fit in a good amount of gaming time. Not gonna lie, some days I only got in a half hour to an hour (especially around midterms and finals) but on weekends and on days where I didn't have any work, I got in plenty of time... it definitely is worth bringing it with you, and you will undoubtedly get some time with it. But don't ignore socializing, because that's a lot of fun in college

When I was in college, I didn't take any of my consoles or handhelds with me for fear of that I'd game so much that I'd neglect school. I'd say hold off on taking any consoles or handhelds with you unless you're absolutely sure that you can game responsibly without neglecting your schoolwork. I only played for about 2 hours every weekend if I came home. Then I was able to up my gaming hours during the summer if I didn't take any extra classes during that time.

Freshmen year you have the most free time, because it is the easiest year of coursework. However, freshmen year for most people is definitely the most social year, which gaming can be very social, but with everything else going on in and around campus, there is so many other things to do, you may not want to game quite as much. But as I said, the free time is yours to do as you please with, so I'm sure you'll have enough time to squeeze in 2 hours a day, even if it is late at night lol.

You DO NOT have to study thrice as hard in college than you did in high school.

Well I thought I would get to game a lot when I got into college. I thought I would be able to walk in and take tests like I did in high school. However, I found out the hard way that I couldn't just play PS all day. I was use to playing every day for hours. However when college starts back up again...I will go back to one to two days a week with only a couple hours each time.

I am an enginnering major...but you will most likely not be taking engineering classes your first semester. I didn't at least. You will be doing basics.
