I just recently swapped my 360 in and bought a PS3 (And wow the games blow..) but Oblivion has been receiving outstanding reviews. I've never played one of these games before, so I'm not familiar with it at all.. But what exactly is it?! I'm hearing so many different things that it's a fighting game, action game, simulation game, building game (building your own city?) etc. etc. I would just like to flat-out know what it's all about, what kind of game it is, and most importantly, the difficulty level.. Thank you!!!

WOW the games blow? if your slagging off ps3 games stick asking for advice up your arse. if i got it wrong then is an rpg with real time combat where you controll weapon, shield and magic. enimies are visibly on the map so random encounters are up to you.

The game is very huge. Quests that let you make any kind of fantasy character you'd like. You do need a bit of patience, the replay abilitiy of different character types is cool. It isn't multiplayer, and some call the combat slow and deliberate, of course you can slide the game difficulty up or down if you like.

Its a first person action, adventure, stealth and sims style game.  It pretty much one of the largest most do what ever you want kind of games around, you literally can make it almost any kind of game you want, it does focus alot around interacting with people (AI people) and fighting.  The whole thing is set in midevil type period with magic and monsters and dozens of caves and old rundown forts and villages, and huge sprawling cities with doezens of stores and shops.  hte list of things to do in is almost unending.

oh and you can turn the difficulty up and down to the extremes (like you kill pretty much anything in one hit, or are killed by pretty much anything in one hit.)

Traded in the 360 for a PS3? To me that is one of the dumbest things anyone could do. Why did you do it and don't tell me "because the PS3 has potential" Right now there is not many good games on the PS3 that are exclusuves.

Oblivion is a really good game that has been out over a year ago on the PC and 360. Why would you wait until a year later since you say you had a 360

You cannot play it for 5 minutes and decide it sucks. Deihmos

Its a roleplaying game.  And the PS3 version is apparantly better.   Has better graphics and load times and it comes with an expansion.  There arent other downloads for it yet but they will be coming this year.

i kinda like the game... but its not my favorite.  it can be really tedious at times, and kinda lame as well.  and frustrating - like when you have missions forcing you to pickpocket people and you always end up getting caught, and of course the jail is 2 days walk away from where your mission is - like joining the thieves guild.  of course, you can always just use the auto-travel via the map, but then none of your athletic or acrobatic skills get increased.  so it kinda gets on your nerves at times.  lots of features, lots of stuff to do, you can pick your missions and whatever, its a great game but it takes a lot of time.

Well mr troll, i did it as well and i play the ps3 much more than i ever did my 360. Its called preference. Dont be a jerk to him because he did something he wanted to do. the ps3 does in fact have more potential and if that is his reason then that is his reason. I bought it because i like the upcoming titles much more than those out on the 360, and i ended up enjoying the titles out now more than those out now for the 360. I dont know why you feel the constant need to troll these boards but hey whatever floats your boat i guess.

Yeah if you are a warrior who does stealth missions or a stealth character that does warrior missions it gets more difficult because your skills arent high enough for that thing to be easy. Which is understandable but to some might be tedious. I personally love it because it adds more tension, and also when you get caught you can evade the guards across the continent while they chase you until you find a theives guild leader to pay off your debt for half price. ooooooohhhh im gonna go play now lol

my problem with all the 360 exclusives is that the are all the same typ of game essentially. every once in a while i dont want to just blow crap up. releasing only action games was getting really dull for me.
