Aside from my atrocious spelling in the title, what do you think? FFT, I know, has greater depth, longativity, etc. But d'Arc has a certain freshness to it that I can't explain. Its more than a strategy game: its a whole, polished package. Talk of FFT's slowdowns, and so on, make me think it was rushed (or simply not fixed up enough) and that d'Arc would be a better, fresher experience. What do you guys think?

Some of the combat has slowdowns and the audio misses from time to time, but FFT is the standard by which SRPGs are judged... and it's more than held up to time :) I just bought a PSP on Friday with FFT and I have already logged 10 hours on it =P I have J'eanne D'Arc coming for Christmas as I like the anime look and the alternate take on the 100 year war. If possible get both, but I'd say FFT just because it is THE defining srpg of all time imo. On a side note, I got FFT on sale for 27 bucks and J-D'Arc for 30 :) I may pick up another rpg soon too, possibly Disgaea. I had almost forgotten how much I LOVE the jrpg genre :D. I love my PSP.

Jeanne D'Arc in my opinion. Since I'm new to this type of game play. Very good game and beginner friendly.

I'm no beginner. I've been playing strategy games for a while, especially the handheld U.S. fire emblem series

FFT should be right up your alley then :) It's definitely no slouch on the difficulty level.

Jeanne is the better game here. FFT is still fun and complex, but there are a few fatal flaws in the battle system. the camera is decent enough for most battles, but in more enclosed areas such as towns, it is terrible. it's still managable, of course, but it makes battles harder than they should be. for example one time i accidentally healed an enemy because it looked like my cursor was over the ally on the adjacent space. also, you can't unmove once you've moved.

Final Fantays's camera angles piss me off...but then agian the story is 1000000 times better and more enjoyable

Jean on the other hand has amazing gameplay

At the end i would get warhammer...something about that game pulls me back every single time lol

They are quite different, Jeanne is more like regular FF and not tactics, so it kind of depends on what you like a strategy or role playing game. However, in their respective genres FFT is better.

I was asking myself the same question and eventually settled on Jeanne D'Arc which I'm getting for Christmas. I liked the look of the game more, and apparently FFT is much harder which is something I didn't want, since I hate getting stuck and wasting my money on a game I'll never beat.

Jeanne D'Arc, breath of fresh air to me.

FFT The Lion War's slowdown and lag killed the experience for me, especially when the graphics looked so dated. Hopefully Sony will upload the Original PS1 version (minus most of the problems in the PSP version) on the PS Store.

FFT: WotL ftw sure Jeanne D'Arc has better graphic but the gameplay in tactic will keep you hooked for hours, plus the new cutscenes and redone story are great.

Jeanne D'Arc is also a great game and should be passed up .... hell if you can get both but dont play th em at the same time.

Yeah ffta (gba) is crap when compared to the original fft (psx) the whole judge system and weak story were ffta downfall.

other game of this type to look into are Disgaea, Warhammer 40k squard commander.

In my opinion i think that you should go with Disgaea , it has that certain something that makes it extra great , and if Disgaea doesn't grab you than WH40K should , marked unfairly by gamespot , it's an awesome game ; as are both disgaea and WH40k
