So there is a new update released 3.66 so what does this one do this time and do you have to download it cause I remember that 3.65 was released not too long ago but they said that you had the choice to update with it or not so do we have to update with the new one once you log into the Playstation network so not is all that I'm wondering?

Yes its mandatory, it's supposedly to provide more stable game and network stuff. I tested if it was mandatory before downloading it and i can say yes it is.

It screwed up my controller for about ten minutes playing Fallout New Vegas. It started acting on it's own (which my DS3 never has before) and I had to fight with it just to quit the game. Finally got to the XMB menu, I get an instant notification to update. This wasn't the first time something "went wrong" when Sony sent out the update requirements. This time, it was my controller :|

Funny thing is, my PS3 lost its connection to my router about five minutes after the update, which is pretty rare for me.

I have had my PS3 since last year and have downloaded each new update and never had a issue with any of them.
